I commute into the City (London) from St Albans. Door to door it's less than 60 mins. Annual season ticket is £3,600. Fortunately I'm able to avoid using the tube however my wife does and her ticket is £4,500!

This was true for me until 2 weeks ago! It cost me £80 a month to park by my work, which I've just accepted for the last 3 and a half years (work in a town center so actually doesn't "seem" too bad!) For the last two weeks I have started parking a mile-ish from work for free and walking! So a definite saving of £80 plus I've probably saved a fair amount in petrol as having to leave the house earlier which means I beat a lot of the traffic - so less petrol wasting whilst queuing! There will be the odd day where I need to be near work, but so far I've walked in 8 out of 9 days!
    Starting again..

Approx £30 a month with the odd car parking fee, so probably £40 all in. I work around a 10 minute car drive from home but do a couple of split shift days plus if the A14 gets blocked or closed, the road I need to take becomes horrendously busy and slow moving with no other road alternatives available to reach my destination.

I am unfortunately unable to walk it due to disabilities, in the old days I would have.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I feel like work commute costs are usually not something people take notice of, probably because it is an unavoidable necessity for most so just accepted as a fixed cost in life - certainly when I drove to work, I didn't really think about how much fuel I spent per month.

I think most people will consider that length and costs of their commute, even if they fon't explicitly break it down to work out the exact figure.

It has certianly ben somthng I have taken into account both when looking at jobs, and when moving house.

Mine are now very low as I only live 3 miles from my office!

Unemployed at the minute but up until very recently I would have been paying just under £100 a month. There was a travel to work scheme in operation and I took advantage of that. Otherwise it would have been about £132 a month.

I drive and park (and use YNAB:p), usually a 60 mile round trip about 2-3 times a week on average.

Looking at my average spends, it's costed me 2.7% of my monthly take home pay since January 2019 to get to work.

It might be slightly less than this in reality as my YNAB fuel budget line also includes diesel I've put in DF's car for 'family / weekend' trips.

I pay £55 a month by Direct Debit for a bus pass in my area that's valid for all bus operators every day.

I put £200 per month, but that includes servicing my car and using it after work. If counting only petrol used for traveling for work, about £90 per month. No parking costs for me. Similar cost for DH.

Currently I commute ( drive) 100mile round trip daily! Costing my about £70/75 in petrol a week!

Got a new job offer, I am about to accept which would mean under 100mile a week! Therefore hoping my travel costs will drop substantially!
