Commute costs: how much does it cost you to get to work every month?

Commute currently costs me about £50 per month in petrol and £40 parking. A bus pass would be just over £100 every 4 weeks - and the journey by bus can take double the time, plus a lot more walking.
  • I did commute from the South East to London for over £400 per month - the cost and the time were painful, but I got used to it. Having said that, I then moved to Zone 6 in London and wow, does transport seem cheap within London! A capped price for unlimited journeys and I think the price is around £12 per day last time I checked. I do work from home a lot too, so I think I am spending less than £100 per month currently.
To err is human, but it is against company policy.

£2,472 per year for a 35 minute train journey in to central London.
  • £400+
For about 10months this year I was working 3 days a week in office, but 2-2.5hrs drive away. So I'd stay over 2 nights a week in the cheapest Travelodge I could find. I took the job on after carefully calculating the costs and weighing up compared to the offer on the table (as these would be my costs to pay)

Average cost for 10months was £401 per month, which includes fuel, hotels, food. The most I spent was £565

I've since taken a job where I don't have to commute except for rare occasions!

I either walk or cycle, so nothing.
  • £400+
I pay £525+ a month for my train ticket to commute in to London from the SE. I stand up most mornings as the train is so packed and the trains/tube always have issues so can easily lose an extra 30mins-1hr either getting to work or on the way back at least once a week.

I do also have a car and travel to the station and back as its not close, luckily I have somewhere I can park for free or it would be another £10+ a day for that,

I have a choice between around £6-£7 in petrol or £21.90 return on the train for a 50 mile round trip.

And people wonder why people don't take public transport.

Work is close enough to self propel there and back in my wheelchair so £0 .
I have a disabled pass also so even if I had to go on a bus it would still be £0 for me (exclusions apply though. Certain times I pay but I avoid that where I can) ;).
