Energy: Find the cheapest supplier & earn cashback

I find these comparison sites very misleading. For example, I just fed in details of the BG tariff I am on, and the figures they gave me showing what my present tariff is are hopelessly wrong. So how can you compare if the figures are wrong in the first place?
The figures shouldn't be wrong. Input your annual consumption in kWh and choose your correct current tariff and area (usually by postcode) and the comparison site will give you the results.
Use a couple of comparison sites in the resource bar above to ensure you get consistent readings if you want to be sure
If you still have issues, post your details (annual consumption in kwh, supply area, current supplier & tariff), which comparison site you've used (hopefully one of the ones above) and explain why you think its wrong and someone will check for you if they can."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
It is wrong, because I use the BG Energy Smart Click Energy 6 tariff and I know the figures, but when the comparison site gave the figures for my tariff, they were different. Not by a lot, but they were different.0

Atlantic Electric - Economy 7 No Standing charge on-line
How do I work out my KWh? Is it simply the number of units?
Stupid I know but trying to be accurate whilst doing the comparisons.
I'd ask Atlantic but I can't get through to them for love nor money, constantly engaged!4kWp, SSE, SolarEdge P300 optimisers & SE3500 Inverter, in occasionally sunny Corby, Northants.
Now with added Sunsynk 5kw hybrid ecco inverter & 15kWh Fogstar batteries. Oh Octopus Energy too.0 -

For electricity, yes - just the number of units.0 -
Just checked online and seen that's the case, ta though!
Just signed with Scottish Power and (hopefully!) £60 cashback via quidco.
Not had one not track yet, but I'm always cautious!!!4kWp, SSE, SolarEdge P300 optimisers & SE3500 Inverter, in occasionally sunny Corby, Northants.

Perhaps you should have waited until they were offering £110 again like they were over Christmas.
If it doesn't track then manual claims with Quidco are normally successful provided you can quote a contract number from Scottish Power's welcome letter or similar.0 -
I am most concerned by the practice of some energy suppliers who charge a 10% premium where payment is not made by direct debit.
Reluctantly, I can accept the justification for imposing a collection fee. BT started this many years ago and charges £1.50 per month, irrespective of the size of the bill. Subscribers were up in arms at the outset but over the years, the collection fee is now considered "reasonable".
How do we interpret the word "reasonable"?
I consider 10% to be most unreasonable and, if challenged, may contravene the Unfair Contracts Terms Act 1977 or Unfair terms in Consumer Contract Regulations 1999.
Anyone have any comments?

I am considering changing my dual fuel from EON to the new British Gas Websaver 5 tariff and was wondering if I went through Topcashback to somewhere like money supermarket, would I get the £20-30 cashback from topcashback and then another £30 cashback from money supermarket?
Not sure how this works?!
Thanks
Mad
I am also interested to hear from anyone who has managed to swap to British Gas Websaver 5 for electricity only and found any way to increase the cashback higher than £15 by going through a cashback site and a comparison site or some other means of increasing the cashback?0 -

exactly the point I been making. Then it spurts out estimated savings per year when all I want is a simple price per unit quote.0 -

But its not as simple as price per unit is it because you have to factor in direct debit discount, dual fuel discount, once a year loyalty payment discount and initial units charged at a higher price than run on units. Then of course there are different levels of cashback available from Quidco and Topcashback compared to the energy comparison websites............0
