    So - to turn to my question; while I wouldn't switch for a few% saving, we're possibly talking £100-300pa. What are your experiences of their competitors' customer service, refund policy and online billing & analysis?
    I find it very rare that I need to call either of my current (non dual fuel) providers. I keep an eye on the direct debit figure they estimate and have called them on the occasions I thought they were overestimating (probably no more than 2-3 calls in total in the past 4+ years). Whilst this doesn't directly answer your question, to me, the level of hassle around an average 0.75 calls per year is easily outweighed by saving £100 and probably even £50.
  • Coming to the end of fixed deal with British Gas on 30 November. We have accrued £342 credit over the Summer and our monthly direct debit currently is set at £132 which should keep us on track until next Spring. If we switch to another company, are we likely to have to pay a higher monthly direct debit initially as we have not accrued any credit previously with them??
  • I was going to stick with Atlantic rather than move to the SSE fixed so that I wouldn't lose out on my annual rebate. However, when I checked last weekend it had already been paid in so that left me free to get the best deal I could before their price hike on 15th Nov.

    So I went back to the comparison sites (despite being fed up with them after several searches) and got myself a fixed deal with M&S before the price hike, plus Quidco cashback and M&S vouchers. Seems to be the best for me, although by the time the switch goes through I will have paid 4-5 weeks of Atlantic's new higher rate before dropping back down. But better than missing out on my rebate.

    M&S did pretty well for Customer Service in the Which survey, and the man I spoke to on Thursday was helpful, so keeping my fingers crossed I did the right thing.... Too late now anyway!

    I doubt if you will get cashback and M&S vouchers for changing from one SSE tariff (Atlantic) to another SSE tariff (M&S) but do update the thread to let us know.

    Wondering if anyone can help.

    Currently with Scottish Power on a fix that ends December this year.

    As the house is unoccupied can someone suggest the best options to look at.

    If I was to fix with SP again I have to start paying a Standing Charge that is really high, especially considering my low fuel use.

    I know all companies are doing away with non standard charge tariffs (thanks ofgem) but wondered if there was a better tariff option somewhere for my circumstances.

    Thanks for any help

    My Scottish Power fix also ends soon and I'm trying to compare prices on the MoneySavingExpert Cheap Energy Club site. When it asks for my current deal with Scottish Power it offers a range of options such as:

    Platinum Fixed Energy January 2014 NSC Online
    Platinum Fixed Energy January 2014 NSC
    Platinum Fixed Energy SC Online
    Platinum Fixed Energy SC etc

    When I look at my account details on Scottish Power's web-site it only describes my deal as:
    Fixed Energy January 2014

    Can anyone explain what the letters SC and NSC stand for on this MSE site. I tried to call Scottish power but they have a 90 minute wait so I thought it might be quicker to ask in this forum.

    SC = Standing Charge
    NSC = No Standing Charge

    I recently switched through Cheap Energy Club mainly because they monitor your usage for better deals when they crop up. Previous to this I would monitor this myself by periodically using the various switching sites. I recently read in the terms and conditions or it might have been in the FAQS that cashback is only payable once per year.

    My question is, what are people doing if they receive notification of a cheaper supplier before the anniversary of their last cashback? It does not seem ethical to use another switching site after using CEC's monitoring service but at the same time it does not seem right that one should have to miss out on another cashback.

    Thanks

    Thanks

    Ethics don`t come into to it.
    CEC is making money doing this so don`t feel too bad using someone else if the need arises.

    It`s amazing how a whole new industry has been created by switching.
    The suppliers are squealing they have to put prices up because of costs yet they`re chucking in £60 a switch.

    Who`s kidding who here?
