  • Ok. Sorry about that.

I'm not familiar with Cheap Energy Club but normally if you want to compare electricity prices then start again asking to compare electricity prices. Have you considered dual fuel tariffs as well as single supplies?

Thanks , i'l give it a try it might work out cheaper :j
  • Hi,

I think the energy club is a great tool but there is a distinct lack of contact options for questions and issues should any questions be raised!

I have switched using the tool which worked well, however, I cannot see the history of my switch now it has completed. This might be a useful addition to the site?

I need to check if and when the £30 for switching has gone through. How can I go about this?

    Thanks,
    Marc
  • I have just tried 4 times to update my gas and electricity annual kwH but get an error message after pressing ENTER.
This is on the Cheap Energy section.:(
  • Hello
I'm currently on a Scottish Power fixed till Jan 2014 tariff and looking at next product to go to ( another fixed )
Like the look of the Npower fixed to Nov 14 , but as this is slightly more expensive than my current SP fixed till Jan 2014 I am not sure its a good idea to swap for another month or so , however I am thinking of swapping sooner than later due to the impending price increases coming soon ?
    Would value your thoughts
    Regards Steve

My deal runs out 31 Oct and but Cheap Energy Club won't let me research best deal as after I input consumption it says I am on the best deal and it will notify when i'm not - when do thewy do that? I ask as it'll take a few weeksto switch won't it?

It's always a bit of a gamble switching before the end of a current fixed tariff. Assuming there are no exit penalties for leaving early, you could conceivably get a better deal than will be available when the tariff ends.
You have to weigh up what the additional cost would be for the next few months on a higher tariff than you need to be on, versus what the presumably higher fixed rate will be when the tariff ends. Personally, I'd wait until a few weeks before then end of the tariff and then start looking.

kuepper - try one of the other comparison sites if the CEC won't show you the information you want. However, you still have more than a month to go and even though a switch typically takes 4-6 weeks, you will only have a few weeks on a standard tariff with your current supplier. Unless there is no exit penalty, you don't want to initiate the switch until within the cooling off period for the new supplier (usually about 10 working days), to play safe.

I have an outhouse that I want to wire up with electricity using a friends house to connect up to a few 100 metres away (it's on an allotment). Does anyone know if I can add this to my home British Gas account somehow via his address?

If you are going to use your neighbour's electricity then your consumption will be paid for by your neighbour on his electricity bill.

You will need the local electricity company to install a new meter for your outhouse. I don't recommend running DIY electricity cabling a few hundred yards, anyway. What safety precautions will you need to take? Or do you want a spade through your cable and someone in hospital - or worse, the morgue.

Thanks for the advice, you're right. I should do this properly.
