Energy: Find the cheapest supplier & earn cashback

Energy suppliers seem pretty luke-warm about collective switching schemes at the moment. BG have dismissed outright any participation in such schemes.
Attitudes may change once Ofgem's Retail Market Review has been finalised but in the meantime I don't think collective switching has too much to offer to seasoned users of comparison sites.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

If Ofgem did their job properly, they would address the real issue - the lack of price transparency which makes comparison sites necessary.
Comments by our Prime Minister, confusing a tariff with a simple unit price, suggest that, like the general population, he doesn't grasp the details of this issue. The obvious way to improve things would be to abolish tariffs altogether and force prices to be expressed in a normal way, like all other consumer goods.
Without transparency, the majority of consumers have little chance of finding the best deal, so competition is stifled.0 -
Switched through MoneySupermarket from link on here to Scottish Power.
Started switch in October, both utilities completed in late November/early December.
It does mention it takes up to 12 weeks, well I reckon that time has passed so who do I contact for £30 cashback?0 -

Where does it mention anything about having to wait 12 weeks?

The full registered address of the provider, however, is provided0 -
I switched to Scottish Power, with the deal going through in October.
I used "energyhelpline" for a electricity only deal and got the £15 kick back on 28th January.
Confusingly it appeared on my bank statement as FUNDRAISING INNOVA0 -
Wyeth,it actually says it on this site
Go via this MoneySupermarket* link and if it can switch you, it will put £30 in your account. Expect it 6-12 weeks after your supply has gone live.
So, I'm only going by Martin0 -
Just rang Moneysupermarket.com to see about cashback for switching to Scottish Power.
Answered immediately and after a quick check said cashback had been paid into bank account in January.
Now off to have words with my O.H., who obviously hadn't noticed, and he balances the account!!!
Having said that I certainly wasn't expecting it so quickly after switching over in early December.0 -
States in their consitions cashback will be paid 2-3 months from confirmation of switch from our previous supplier to the new supplier.0

When do people switch to avoid early termination fees - my present deal ends 31/7 /13 - because you can't nominate a date I don't want to start the switch too early and have a new deal start before this date but I don't want to leave it too late and go onto their standard rate - what to people generally do?
I have read it takes 4-6 weeks - so do you leave it to 4 to be safe or do the switch 6 weeks before the end date?

Under proposals in Ofgem's <Retail Market Review>, this will change to provide fixed-term customers with a 42-day switching window during which prices will be held and termination fees will not be allowed. It's not clear how soon this proposal will be implemented.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
