  • I have dual fuel from Npower, on the Sign On-Line 11 Paperless billing tariff.

I've just entered my kilowatt hour usages for gas and electricity into Energyhelpline and it's told me I can save £237 pa by switching to ... Npower, on their Sign On-Line 23 tariff.

If I click on the Gas Only and Electricity only tabs, both indicate that Npower tariff has the highest saving.

Has anyone else had similar results for their fuel providers? If so, did you change?

Can someone please give me some advice on what is the best comparison site to use to compare utilities as having a bit of a difference between them.

I'd also like to know this, if anyone can help?
  • I have just arranged to switch to a fixed tariff with EDF commencing Oct 1st. I understand it might take 4-6 weeks to finalise change over. Does anyone know if I will be charged at the pre increase price or be charged at the new higher rates if they are in place at the time of my change over. Thank you.

Not certain, but I believe you should get the fixed rate at the time you made the arrangement. Best check with their customer services.
  • Just switched and noticed that final "actual" meter readings are inflated: one dated a month ago is higher than the current reading.

Small sums involved, but I'm writing to seek an explanation because it looks dodgy: effectively making me pay the old supplier, at their (higher) rates, for energy delivered by the new supplier.

Not sure why a meter reader would give false readings, because I thought they were independent from the suppliers (i.e. nothing to gain).
    Anyone else had this?

hi, im new to this, so sorry if im in the wrong place, but i switched my gas and electric thro a comparison site and thro this site, i was meant to have £40 cash back, but ive heard nothing, ive had new cards and keys (im on pre paid meters) so all has gone through succesfully, can anyone shed some light on this for me plz many thanx

I'm Brand spanking new here too...I have just been checking original emails from nPower, and received one from them dated 13/5/2011 thanking me for choosing nPower and asking me to register for paperless billing...bear in mind my DD was not set up and taken until 9/9/2011!!
  • When I switch do I need to cancel the old direct debit to E.On or does that happen automatically!?

I don't want to end up paying 2 direct debits!
  • Assuming you want to see a fixed contract out to it's full term, at what point is it feasible to look for the best Fixed contract to follow on from the current one?

OMG, just had letter from npower, I was on sign online 19 tariff, which comes to an end at the end of September. They are going to move me to their standard variable rate, which means a price increase of 27.5% on gas and 42.1% on electric!!!! Think I better get searching on the price comparison sites. Any tips on using them? How do I work out my actual usage and is that the best thing to go by on there?

I received a letter from Npower saying I would be moved from Sign On-Line 11 tariff to the Go Save tariff.

I entered my gas and electricity kWh yearly usage using Energyhelpline. Irrespective of whether I chose dual fuel or the two different fuels separately, it told me the best company was . . . Npower. But the tariff was Sign On-Line 23. So I will be changing over to that, rather than Go Save, after I've done a rates check to confirm it is cheaper, and that I don't lose the £100 a year discount.

flis21: Did your letter from Npower include your annual kWh usage figures?
