21 Is bound to be cheaper if 16 is a year or so old and is a flexible pricing tarriff as they only offer the best prices when a tariff is new. The only time this isn't true is with capped tariffs that are at a set price for a certain period of time.
But anyhow you would make more money by changing supplier and initiating the switch from the https://www.topcashback.co.uk cashback site.0 -
I don't know if it's flexible,i switched to it about 18 months ago after ringing NPower to see what their cheapest tariff for me was,i did look at TCB to use to switch, but it was asking me for bank details ,is this usual ?
If i'm already with Npower i didn't think i'd have to put in bank details again, obviously when i rang them directly they just changed the tariff over the phone,i've never switched via a cashback site before.0 -

I doubt something with so many series will be a fixed price tariff. They come up with a new flexible price tariff every two or three months and the flexible price tariff is usually always the cheapest one at any current point in time but not over the long term.i did look at TCB to use to switch, but it was asking me for bank details ,is this usual ?
No its not unusual at all. They ask for your bank details so they can pay you the cash back when they receive it from the energy company or any other company that you place an order with through the TopCashBack site.
But anyhow you can't earn money from a cashback site by switching from one tariff to another with the same supplier. You have to switch energy companies to earn money from a cashback site.
I know some of you seem to have a problem about changing suppliers and think your current supplier will love for you being loyal. But there is nothing to changing supplier and no chance of being cut off and your existing supplier will normally only punish you for your complacency in being loyal to them.0 -

Thanks very much for your help,i didn't realise you couldn't get cashback for changing the tariff only,i have no qualms about changing supplier, but on the cashback sites i've been to recently they said Npower were still the cheapest for me.0 -

But how much cheaper were the next cheapest? If they were only charging £5 per year more but would pay you £100 cashback to join them it may still be worth switching.0 -

Do you have an annual deferred rebate that you lose if you switch from Npower?0 -
I am with Atlantic and pay a fixed sum each month. Every 12 months they return the payments for one month. Because I had built up a bit of credit on my last electric and gas bill they also agreed to return the surplus to my bank. I was thinking if I paid a larger amount each month I would then receive that payment back once a year and then also a larger surplus. Can anybody see a flaw in this idea !0

How exactly do you pay?
The rebate is supposed to be only for those that pay by DD.
You don't set the amount that is collected by DD, the supplier does.Rebate paid in month 13 after 12 months' continuous supply and annually thereafter. Rebate amount based on average of total payments for energy consumption made over the preceding 12 months. Available when paying by monthly Direct Debit only."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

Yes I do pay by DD although Atlantic allow me to choose the amount they collect each month providing it keeps me in credit ! (Just requires a quick phone call to customer services)0 -

When a customer calls up (it can be any supplier) the supplier may well agree to a small variation on the basis that some arguments may not be worth having, especially if it will upset the customer.
The amount is regularly reviewed anyway, so a few months down the line, if you say you want to increase the monthly amount because you believe you will be using a lot more energy than you used to, and the change in consumption doesn't occur, they will be back trying to reduce the amount.
... Or give them a call and ask to pay £1000 per month and see how you get on"Now to trolling as a concept. ....
