Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me.

I've been trying to get a quote for EON fix online v8 but everytime I put in my address it goes to another page and asks me to call them. I could see my address from the the drop down menu but everytime I select it then that error comes up 'Sorry, we're unable to provide you with a quote for your energy needs at the present time. Please visit our site again soon, or call us for a quote on 0800 056 8499'. But if I enter a different housenumber on the same street then it works.

    Can anyone please help?

Hi Zootykins, and welcome to MSE :hello:

Which comparison site are you trying to use? Many offer a telephone number you can call to rather than doing it online. If that is available, maybe try that (mention that you want the MSE cashback)?

  • Thanks for the welcome.

I was trying to go through Quidco.

Hello and good evening all. Myself and my Girlfriend are moving together into a new house on friday and are wondering which is the best provider for gas and electricity to go for. I currently live in a shared house and don't need to pay gas/electric, where as my girlfriend is on a crappy PAYG gas/electric meter both with british gas. We want an online deal, paying on a monthly basis. Any help much appreciated, i have looked at a few comparison sites, but it won't let me check for deals as she is on a PAYG meter. Help!!

I take it you are renting?
Does you landlord want his meter changed to one where the tenants can "do a runner" leaving him with the winter gas bill?

I just phoned up the electricity network supplier in my area and said
"I want a proper meter". There was some talk about deposits but in the end the meter got swapped over.

    Hi Zootykins

I'm sorry you're having difficulties obtaining a quote through our website.

This message is sometimes displayed where there is a mis-match between your address details and those held on the national databases.

We use these databases to identify individual properties. If the info you are inputting is not the same as that on the database, your property will not be selected and the message you describe will be displayed.

Alternatively, Fixonline 8 is only available to customers with single rate or Economy 7 credit meters. Therefore, if you have a different type of meter, a similar message will be displayed.

However, I think the first alternative is the more likely as it doesn't sound as though you have reached the stage for tariff selection yet.

Hope this helps a little Zootykins. Give me a shout if I can help further. Drop an email to the address in my Profile if you prefer as will be happy to take a look. :)

    Hi Fliss

The Price Protection R2 tariff is the product customers on a previous capped arrangement were automatically transferred to when their existing agreements ended in October 2009.

On the R2, we guarantee not to increase prices before April/May 2011.

There are no restrictions on the R2 and you can change tariff or supplier at any time without picking up a cancellation fee.

However, customers changing supplier do not receive any discount on their final bill. Therefore, it is best to time such a switch to keep the impact of this to a minimum.

I would pop your usage on to one of the comparison sites. This will show you the best deal for you, either with us or another supplier.

Hope this helps Fliss. Give me a shout if I can help further as will be happy to do so. :)

Don't know, but if you go via a cashback site like topcashback you get £130 cashback for Scottish Power, almost double the £70 offered by Uswitch:
    http://www.topcashback.co.uk/scottish_power/
Nooooo...I switched to Scottish Power yesterday via the link in the email and Energy Helpline who were offering £50 cashback...now I find I could have gone through Quidco and got £130!!! I don't mind helping this site out but the email should point out the other cashback options available...after all it's about saving money on here isn't it? :(
This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!
