Spot on brandeberryj. This is how we usually pick up E.ON related questions/issues.

However, as I have posted a few times on this thread, I am subscribed to it and receive emails each time someone posts.

I am aware of harryhound's question and will be responding shortly.

    Many thanks. :)

    Hi harryhound

MSE don't allow us to use the PM function. However, there is an email address in my Profile if you would like to use this. :)

I saw your question when I came in this morning. I must admit, I am no expert on the new Feed in Tariffs so will endeavour to find out more today and let you know.

This is an open question to any electricity company representatives monitoring this thread.

I am seriously thinking about installing solar PV (Solar electric panels on the roof).

If I then wanted to change suppliers, to get a cheaper supply rate during the day or night or both, would my FiT cause extra problems?

    Hi harryhound

Sorry for the delay. I have been speaking with our FIT Customer Service team about FIT's in general and your question in particular.

I've actually learnt quite a bit of new stuff today. :D

As far as we are concerned, there is no problem if you decide to go on to a FIT and then want to change your electricity supplier.

You can choose whoever you like to supply electricity without affecting payments through the FIT. These will continue as per your FIT agreement.

Hope this answers your question. There is more general info about FIT's on our website (there's a link in my Profile) which you might find useful.

To access this, please select Products & Services and then Feed in Tariffs from the left hand menu.

Give me a shout if you need any more details as will be happy to help. :)

The sky box gets left on all the time as does a laptop, other than that it is rare for me to use the washing machine/dishwasher during the day so I have no idea why usage is so high

Is there a reason you leave your laptop on?

If it's for convenience, you could try changing the power settings to have it 'hibernate' when you close the lid. (I know 'close the lid' isn't the right phrase, but I can't think how else to put it!) It uses a lot less power...I think it uses less power than when it's on standby and almost as little as when it's switched off, but it leaves everything as it is when you close the lid, and is very quick to start up again.

Do you have wireless internet? If that's the case, your router must be on all the time too. Try turning that off when you close your laptop.

    Thanks Malc.

I must confess I have not found and read the small print of a FiT agreement and sort of thought it would work like (say) an ISA. (ie you have to drag the "subsidy" from one provider to another and it takes ages and you can get ripped off by all suppliers over time, because they know you don't want to move again.).

Are you saying that the "subsidy" agreement stays with your original provider, thus giving you two electricity bills. One that you have to pay and one that pays you ? (I don't think that makes sense?)

Just for the record, there is an article in the latest copy of "Period Living":
    http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/2f5bd2a8#/2f5bd2a8/2

It is about "future proofing" your home and includes putting PV panels on your roof. It claims that the consumer will get a subsidy from the government - that is wrong the subsidy of (say) 25 - 30 pence per unit (Kwh) comes from your fellow customers via the electricity company.
I am not clear how that is going to be fairly spread over the industry?? Is it going to be based on the "polluter pays" - ie the electricity producers creating the most CO2 will have to pick up the tab for the most subsidy ?
