    Look for a salmon recipe

This is our favourite, easy, and has a bit of an Asian vibe:
    6 tbsp soy sauce
5cm fresh root ginger, grated (or a couple of teaspoons out of a jar)
    3 garlic cloves, crushed
    3 spring onions, finely sliced
    1 red chilli, finely chopped.
Mix this lot together and marinate 6 salmon fillets for an hour or thereabouts (can be less, or longer)
It is straightforward to halve the marinade recipe if you only want to do 2 or 3 fillets.
Take the fillets out of the marinade, and pan fry in a little butter and oil till cooked, just before you take it out, pour over the marinade and heat through. Don't let it boil for ages though, or it will be too salty. Serve with either rice, noodles or new potatoes and veg or salad on the side :)
  • Last night my partner and I spent the evening putting greeting cards and envelopes into plastic sleeves. £10 earned that we wouldn't have had. Quite nice to sitting, chatting and watching TV.

I've also finally completed a survey in Prolific. 60p so far but it's a start.

    Morning folks!

OH suddenly perked up last night an decided that he was a: picking me up from the hairdressrs and b: wanted to order pizza. I had my misgivings about this but he's an adult... fast forward to this morning, apparently smashing down pizza, wedges, cookies and diet coke is not a good idea on a delicate system. He's laid out in bed again with a very squiffy tummy. It sounds like the bug I had last week. I think he should be over the worst tomorrow although he's insisting on working tonight (I think this is a mistake).

:heartpuls B/L/D from stores - done
:heartpuls Walked to docs and back to have bloods taken - done
:heartpuls Put washing away - done
:heartpuls Tidy round as needed - done
:heartpuls Paint plot sign for allotment. Have found a suitable piece of wood in the greenhouse and a tin of outdoor acrylic in the shed. - in progress...
    :heartpuls Loaf in breadmaker
:heartpuls Do a bit more tidying in greenhouse. I am emptying it to dismantle it (knackered large placcy one - only good for scrap now). - finished and dismantled! Have decided to keep all the bits for the time being in case some sort of re-use becomes apparent at the allotment
:heartpuls Poss pop some leaves into bin bag for making leaf mold
:heartpuls Remind OH to save bath water if he has one (he forgot yesterday!) - no bath
:heartpuls Check raspberry variety and find out how to prune it - done
:heartpuls Oh yes - make the Christmas cakes! - in the oven. My hands have softened up so much from not being at the gym that I have actually blistered them creaming the butter and sugar!

    Have a good one all

    Afternoon all :)
    Small things so far:
HG fruit from freezer for breakfast
Made a batch of cheese scones
Walked into town to post ebay parcels
Walked to sales unit while in town to tidy up
And picked up bananas and milk that I had forgotten yesterday plus a YS bag of spinach

Went out into garden after lunch, planted rest of autumn onion sets in with the rooted rosemary cuttings I planted yesterday. They are in big pots, and the onions will be out before the rosemary needs the space. I tend to pull one or two out when I need an onion (once they have grown obviously), rather than leave them to mature in the usual way.

Washed out big tomato pots and hid them away in a corner for next year

Swept down path after making a mess with muddy water :rotfl:

    Still to do:
    Check banks Done, no surprises
I ought to list a few more things on ebay Well I relisted something - not sure if that counts :o But I have sorted out a few things to list, and sold another item
And sort my seed box out That is this evening's entertainment :rotfl:

Mushroom risotto for dinner, to use chicken stock that I made the other day :)Done, and plenty left for lunch tomorrow :)

Printed off a free Collect + label to send an unwanted coat to the Wrap Up campaign. They collect coats in London, Bath and Manchester (I think it is) for the homeless. I sent mine to Bath, my uni city :) Must take it to the corner shop tomorrow to get it sent off.

I've just made risotto too Dawn, (for only the 2nd time ever and both this week! )
Cleared round the fridge the end of a bag of spinach and a pepper were starting to go off, so along with the end of the chicken I cooked the other day, my last onion and some peas I made a risotto. This was just going to be for dh & I as the kids usually have pizza on a Friday, but after I've made it I've decided there is probably 3 big portions there, so we'll split it between the four of us and have a starter of duck spring rolls (which we got ages ago ys from icyland) and finish the stewed berries and stewed plums in ginger with either some ice cream or yogurt. I think thats treat-ee enough to please the kids without a Pizza Friday!
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Risotto is one of my go-to "culinary dustbins". Once you get the basics sussed then you can pop any bits of meat and veg that you have in it :)

I don't know why I'd never tried it before!! Definitely going to be a regular now.

Cars.... dh's car has had its service/new tyre which has made him decide that its the last big spend on this car as he's going to replace it before its next service/mot in June - oh joy :( He's promised me he won't look this side of Xmas at least!
