  • It was awesome that she got the opportunity. It was even from someone at work who she was convinced didn't like her.

This weeks shop is £42 and I'm picking it up tonight on my way home.

  • Oh and I just got £1.50 for a survey on PA. Rather chuffed with that as I've got £2.10 on there already.

I'm surprised how well I'm doing on PA this time around, I'm sure I didn't do so well a few years ago
  • Do they often have any surveys in the evening? I imagine not.

I've been doing more surveys on other sites. It's a little bit addictive. Also looking at switching my current account. HSBC is doing a switch for £175. I've normally not been able to switch as they normally have caveats about having been with them before. I've been through most of the banks. but this switch looks to be for new customers after 2016 which is fine.

  • Great to read your thread, I find just writing makes me accountable to work on budgeting or earning more.

Looking forward to following your journey.
  • We've had to spend a bit on the wedding. All the decorations are bought since my partner is making them all herself. My waistcoat has also been purchased and a popcorn machine as we're having a candy bar area. All for the grand total of £65. So, not bad at all.

In other news I'm still doing the surveys. Looking forward to my partner's pay day at the end of week so we can put some more money aside. We do need £80 to replace glow plugs in the motor but that should be it on the car front till next year.

  • We've been looking at other expenses. We've been paying out £18.39 a month for a face painting convention my SO was going to next October. We've already paid out £220 so far. She's not really doing face painting anymore, more selling the supplies really so we're going to cancel it and we can get back 80% of the cost. I've work that out to be £176 plus the money saved each month.

Phone wise. My SOs phone is paid off in two months and we can get a SIM only deal with 3 for £8 a month for 8gb which should do us. That means her bill will go from £30.88 a month to £8. Bargain.

  • Got home last night and after putting the littlest to bed and letting my OH nap before her night shift I thought I'd log onto PA. I found a study for £2.80 and when I had completed that there was another one waiting for £3.05.

I'm now up to £6.88. I'm really quite chuffed with that. The surveys on there tend to be a lot better than other sites too.

I came home last night to my OH sitting on the floor packing birthday cards, with envelopes, into plastic sleeves. She's joined a group of her work colleagues in doing some work from home. £10 to complete a box. Once I'd fed the kids I sat down and helped whilst we watched TV. Did my back in but we finally finished at 23:45. OH tried to say it wasn't worth it but hopefully I've convinced her otherwise. It meant we spent some time together whilst watching tele and we got £10 we wouldn't have had.

I've also earned my first 60p with Prolific. I've taken to having it open in the background during the day now. Keep checking to see if there are any surveys.

If packing a box takes more than 2 hours for one person i would say it isnt worth it. Most of us wouldnt do a job for £5 per hour (below the minimum wage)

  • That is an interesting point. As it is more work fell through. We had to give up our dog the other day and my OH spent an evening crying her eyes out. She didn't reply to a message about more work and in the morning when she did the other woman said she only wanted 'reliable' people. Didn't seem to care that my OH had a legitimate reason for not responding.
