If it works like previous years then they debit the full normal value of points 20,000 and then straight away recredit half the value 10,000 back to your account. But the credit may take a day to show in your balance when it is updated.
So you could have a negative points balance until the re-credit? Or does it not allow that?0 -
I just spoke to nectar and they said points can be swapped in the shop? i said that conflicted with info what was on the website. so I got in touch with sainsburys and they said that its wrong, double up is only available online or the app...I can only order the vouchers online and have them posted, (I wont be able to use the app on the days the double up is available) and I can only use them on the last day, the only day i can get there, and if they are out of stock of the items i want, they confirmed the money/points will be lost. what a farce!!0

Presumably that's because you want to use them to buy something in Sainsbury's. What about if it's something from outside Sainsbury's but listed on the app in one of their categories (in my case beauty)?
I wonder if you could buy something in TU in the wrong size and then exchange it at a later date for the same value?
It sounds potentially that it's a good way to cut loads of points off peoples' balances and save themselves some money.:(0 -
Have two friends that work for Sainsburys and wish the double up is for all wines. As they get at least three customers per double up redemption period picking up any wine. Then waste time explaining to customers that is only for Taste the Difference wines.0

Has anybody else noticed that they have changed the rules this year.ie
"Only £100 worth of Nectar Double Up vouchers will be issued per Nectar card/account during the promotional period."
Previously there was no limit on how much you of your nectar points you could use.
There was a limit of £100 voucher per item.
Now the overall limit is £100!
I have 33,000 points which would have been worth £333 in the double up. Now it will be worth £100 + £115 ... so I'm losing £118.
No wonder they can splash out on their and campaign ... cos'they're going to save millions.

They haven't thought this through. The Sainsburys near me is small and mainly used by elderly and don't have internet at home or a smartphone (or a mobile phone). Before you ask, my dad is a volunteer for a history group and prints off extra for the members - at least half of the members don't have internet. Most shop at the Sainsburys as there are two larger supermarkets nearby and too big for them. A local business is now doing the photoopying for the history group..
Asking staff to phone Nectar to do a turnaround with their points is going to take too much time. Whereas printing off a voucher took less than a minute.
Also these customers are going to miss out on impulse double up opportunities such as they are going in to their weekly shop and find an item of clothing they want. Or 'semi' impulse such as those that need to buy a replacement toaster as theirs has broken,
Unless Sainsburys has a change of heart, they are going to see the double up conversions decrease, add unnecessary stress to customer service staff and upset customers. Sainsburys - bring back the ability for stores to print double up coupons please.
Sainsburys cannot force elderly and technophobe customers into embracing new technology like this0 -
Yesterday I redeemed 3000 points online to get a £30 voucher. Nectar in their wisdom decided to do its own double-up and took off 6000 points from my account! I phoned them up and they said it will take up to 28 days to get my points refunded. What a shambles!0

I spoke to Customer Services at Sainsburys today. I felt a bit sorry for the staff as they don't seem to have much training in the system.
It's a bit clearer now. Apologies to those of you who understood all along.
You can get vouchers either from the website or later in the month from the app. The website vouchers will be posted out but the ones from the app are electronic. Both can be used later in November (sorry don't have dates to hand).
When booking vouchers you need to choose a category that you plan to spend it on. The vouchers are interchangeable so if what you originally planned isn't available then you can use them in another category. The categories aren't the usual places you can use points on the website /app but specific ones that don't appear on the app yet.
I still think it's wrong that they've made it so difficult for anyone who doesn't want to use website or app and taken away the facility from processing in store. And it really does not need to be so complicated. :mad:0 -
Came on MSE thinking that you savvy bunch would have probably figured it all out
This seems like such a shambles/con. I'm not bothering and have been holding out eagerly expecting something nice for my efforts to use vouchers.
Have deleted the app as it was daft, and more hassle than it's worth. My plan there is to just "save all offers" over the website instead, hopefully i remember.
I think using the points against items on sale is the most profitable for us, and it prevents us wasting money on impulse buys due to this voucher tactic they're using.0
