    #20 checking in

Budget - Checked and all seems ok.

NSDs - 7/15 - Saturday was an NSD but yesterday was our planned trip so spent in the gift shop :D

Lunch to work - Kids sent with their pack ups as normal. Hubby should be home today :D

Items removed - 22/60 - Sold the filing cabinet (got £10 for it and only spent 6.25 at the gift shop so yay!) and the 2 ebay items didn't sell so I put one into the donate bag and the other I'm tempted to take to the local auntion house when they have their next valuation day.

Outings - 2/2 - both done and thoroughly enjoyed it all!

Daily fresh air - Yesterday lots of fresh air on our outing. Today - bus run done, need to nip to the shop to get eldest's cooking ingredients for school tomorrow.

Gratitudes - A lovely weekend, finding some nice marmalade for Dad for Christmas and my coffee this morning is much needed. Also grateful for the inspiration to pick up my laptop and write again. Managed to pick it up 3 nights in a row and wrote a lot more than I have in months....happy to say my book now looks like it's acutally progressing!

New habits - Routines have done ok on the weekend. Today is my weekly 'home blessing' in fly lady terms and I do love to see a fresh clean house at the end of it :D
Changing my Family's Future!! - Starting again!!!!
    Current Progress -
    Debt - Start date 14/4/25 = £14,880.45
    Savings Goal = £1000 EF - £0/£1000 = 0%

AM spending today on dentist (medical) and post office (flebay - so covered by buyer) - will see if I spend on anything else....

Have some life admin to get sorted today and have taken some strawbs from freezer and prosecco from garage shelves (this bottle was a 'promotional' freebie from a corporate event OH went to - it has the client's name on :D) to make jam - we are down to the end of our last jar and I will also give some away at Xmas

As I'm at the PO anyway (re flebay) and the CS is a few shops along, I've (more than) filled up the ongoing box with another 12 items and will drop it off this morning. That plus the flebay sale and prosecco (counts as clutter here - we don't really drink, so alcohol just sits there....) means my running total is now 243/60 :T Not sure I'll add any more to that figure today!

Happy Monday, fellow turtles - it looks like we might have some sun breaking through here - yippee! :)

Mothernerd I hope your mum (nannynerd? grannynerd? Grandmamanerd?) perks up as quickly as she went downhill.

Yesterday was a spend day as I escaped and I saw 2 x £2 films, Blackfish, and 3 Billboards outside Billings. I needed a day away. I had coffee and cake whilst out, but it was an independent arthouse cinema and cafe. £5.50 (!). and that is why I bake!

So, this morning I have made sure I have everything in that I need for all lunchboxes for the rest of the month - dh is now robbing my pasties to save himself money - and has started taking his car apart to clean bits to save money on the garage bill too.

Did 3 hours volunteering this morning, came home, prepped supper (I am off volunteering again tonight) so it can be a 15 minute special. Ta dah! Post into face, turn around, go out again. Cleaned the kitchen. Hot tea and a book until school run I think.

I can feel the temperature dropping by the minute. Cold tonight everywhere and windscreen scraping in the morning. Time to find your de-icer, scrapers, and make sure you have windscreen wash. Get it winter ready before you need it - extra blanket etc. Better safe than sorry.

Lovely sunny day here today and pretty mild too. Took the large patchwork quilt off our bed and washed it and put it on the line, did another load of washing and was horrified to find one of my children (or Mr Nobody) left a tissue in their pocket so everything is covered in bits. The washing is almost dry which is great for November.

Made mushroom soup for my lunch today and tomorrow, prepped the veg for tea, did a lot of ironing, walked the dog then after lunch I cycled, just got back from that and am having a quick drink of squash and some fruit before leaving early for the school run so I can pick up dog food en route.

mothernerd - hope you and your mum are feeling better today.

It was so cold today. In fact the grass is still white. Sitting here muffled up in old, comfy, warm cardie. Don't care who sees me.

Done the Boy's washing and it's hanging upstairs drying. Cleaned the cupboard underneath the kitchen sink and have donated a big bag of candles to the Boy. Can't trust Himself with candles. Last time he set a table on fire but that's another story. I have whole box of energy saving light bulbs which don't fit any of the fittings in our house. They were sent out by the power company yonks ago when they were trying to convert people to using low energy bulbs. I'm loath to throw them away as they are perfectly usable but don't know who could use them. Any ideas of a charity or something? Have now thrown out so many boxes, etc that my recycling bin is full. I'll have to ask neighbour if it's OK to use theirs.

Still eating from freezers and stores - even had one of Himself's many butteries for breakfast this morning. Not sure that I like them that much so I think I'll concentrate on the bread for toast.

My sister in law is having her brain surgery today. They couldn't tell us where she was on the list but it's a long operation so I'm just waiting for my nephew to call with news. I'm sure all will be well.

So must go prepare the veg for dinner.

Re the lightbulbs, you can donate to any charity shop, I've bought bulbs from them before and see them quite often.

  • Thank you, Dolly. Just heard she's sitting up in bed having tea and toast. Much relief here.

Once again thank you all for your kind words. Mum has returned to a normal colour and I am home. She had made herself ill by overdoing things. A bottle of oil had fallen over. She took it out of the cupboard but then managed to kick it over.

One of the grand-daughter's was visiting but could only stay for half an hour. She had mopped the cupboard and floor but had to leave. Mum then took all the other things out of the cupboard (it's always something that 'has to be done' when most of them don't), cleaned and bagged them and put the salvaged oil in two small milk bottles.

She had a bad night on Friday and felt weak on Saturday morning then was sick when her friend phoned (she had only felt up to eating a banana). He told her to phone me and I went. She was absolutely sheet white, cold and trembling and but has improved both days.

She has used about a week's energy doing one small task and needs to recuperate. I was bothered enough to check on her several times in the night to make sure she was breathing.

So I'm having a day or two off with the proviso that she will call if she goes worse and I am pretty sure that she can't do anything stupid as she's having to rest after each little task. It's only paper bin week and it's only half full so I've told her to leave it.

Now I need to catch up on things here including getting my prescription repeat order in (they no longer do phone in ones). I have lots of tasks that don't require leaving my room but some urgent bits that do.

Today I am grateful for mum recovering (but not fast enough for her to do too much), for a peaceful day (I have ordered the ne mattress and bedding and a drop leaf table for mum) and for cheese salad.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

Today I am grateful for a dry day, for cheerful kiddies, for a good meeting, for 85% choc, for dd coping with us forgetting to send her swimming with a towel! (She used her school jumper instead!), for a friend bringing me in a couple of books, for my neighbour being up and about after being quite poorly, for a chat with my sister.
