Don't get me started about the cost of treating head lice grrrrrrr! Or the unexpected costs which keep cropping up at school
  • I have a comb called the nitty gritty nit comb. Highly recommend. Only if the kids let me at their hair though. I had to check the youngest ones whilst they were asleep the other day after we had the news from all 3 classes.... they run away from the comb now cos there sick if it.
there is an argument to be had for spraying everyones hair/handing out avex? (I think) tablets on a massive scale once a term. Especially in the classes with sand and playdoh.
No further debt busting today as yet. Must remember to find a pot/get an unopenable tin as ive entered the sealed pot challenge.

Id love to say i paid it all but ive done 3 full and final settlements since jan 2018 which has knocked the debt owed down Theres also been hard graft, hard saving, pay a day and having jobs numbers two and three on top of my day job. In all honestly the main sucess this year was settling a 11000 odd debt for aprox 3350. This really made it possible for me to think that i actually could be debt free...eventually.

hi - so well done! was the £11,000 all one debt? How did you get it settled - did you just make an offer? This is very encouraging stuff :T
  • Yes it was all one debt and our biggest debt. It was originally a 15000 loan which with interest repayable would have been around 20-22000 maybe. Was a while ago cant quite remember sorry.
I defaulted about 4 years ago at around 13500 owing. It got sold on 2 years ago maybe. Id been paying a low amount but not really getting anywhere. I made an offer of 2000, we bartered and i paid 3300 on about 11000 remaining. I was very suprised as a CCA request had sent mega paperwork back to me so i assumed i would be slogging it out all the way.

  • Another payment.... Not a lot 40p today... but staying true to the threads title x
Postive news that the 2 school own clothes days are for donations of toiletries the first day abd chocolate the second one. All can be done cheaper than the pound per person and means i dont have to find physical cash. Yipee
Annoying news is school is going to be used as a polling station so I need to find childcare x 3 for the election. A local playcentre will almost certainly open up that day but its usually at 30 pounds a head. Oh pants....must decide soon as im sure other schools are getting the same news this week.

  • Another payment made today of 71p and 6p transfered to savings in my other account. DH working overtime again. Makes no difference to me apart from messing up the tax credits we get. Hes not yet out anything extra towards anything. Not sure i should have give up job number 2. Although to be fair ive found kids/house etc better since i did. Anyway we have food on the table and its dry here so we are better off than most. Off to update my signature as itts dropped a few pounds x

  • Thanks jwil. Kids have been hard work at the moment so thats not helped me. I should see the positives but then I remember my DFD is years off and see the decaying house and I have a wobble. Next target is to get total debt inc mortgage to below 90k. I think this will happen or be close by new year.
In the new year ill look at it again and have a target which includes improving the house.

  • So a new day and another payment. 70 odd pence today. Shopping list done for tommorrow and urgently need petrol in the car in the morning but otherwise no worries. Im off to investigate monzo and starling. I did try once before but i couldnt register as I had a cheap but sufficient phone that didnt take selfies so i couldnt do the online security ID check. I have a different phone now so im going to give it a go. If i can get it up and running i might be able to use it for an upcoming trip abroad with the family.
