We have a grey feature wall in the living room (fire is grey and was already there when we moved in) and grey / copper in our third bedroom. House already had grey floor tiles in bathroom and the kitchen. Rest of the house is currently white with no significant plans to change the colour even when repainting to freshen things up.
We use colour as accents in things that are relatively easy to change such as light shades and soft furnishings. Floor is natural wood.

I love grey, but then even before it became fashionable for houses, it made up most of my wardrobe.

Like many colours it depends on the tone to whether it's cold or warm.

Think it must be like Marmite; I love Marmite but then, it's not grey.
  • Yep guilty!! I even have a grey wooden toilet seat!

I just can't get enough of it! The only room with colour is my daughter's nursery which is pink (and grey).

Definitely a trend at the moment.

There is help out there... :D
  • Our bedroom has a grey wall and carpet but the other walls are a lovely yellow colour which breaks it up. The soft furnishings are grey and yellow too, with the wardrobes etc white. I love it! I must admit the property in the link above is too dull though. All our rooms are different colours, I like it that way. Each to their own, it'll be a different colour fad in another year or two.
  • It's a massive improvement on magnolia.

I think a colour scheme of grey + white + one bold or dark colour (I'm not keen on pastel colours either) per room can look really nice.

I have a couple of grey walls through the house, grey carpets upstairs as I like them. Wasn't particularly aware it was the fashion. I'm certainly not the fashionable type

I'm one of the few that find grey depressing and drab. I'm currently renovating a house and just finished a new wet room in ochre, orange and white. I'm desperate for a yellow fitted kitchen - my last one was pale blue.

Every kitchen warehouse says they only stock white and grey kitchens because they are popular - but consumers have no options unless they go bespoke. There are sage kitchens - grey with a hint of green, cashmere - grey with a hint of pink, dove grey, pebble, graphite, slate, charcoal, stone, mist, pewter. There can't even be a backlash against grey, because there is little choice - noted that Homebase have introduced plum and peacock blue, but only in their premium range.
Trying to buy furniture, bedding, textiles and flooring that haven't got a grey element is a challenge!
