How many cables are you trying to fit into the blue connector ? ( seems there really only room for one )

and if you remove them has the outer sheath been sliced through properly when you inserted them0 -

How many cables are you trying to fit into the blue connector - two in each which you can do as the holes are oval to take them, but even with just the one wires for the extensions it does not work.
Incidently the connections on the rear of the Mk4 front plate are not only for data connection they also work for telephone purposes as it is the only place at present the extensions work but I want to put back in the front of the back plate.0 -
@thorganby.
You clearly take exception to my statement saying all user connections go via the faceplate.
As you know better please clarify which allowable user connections do not.
I believe quoting my whole post and saying I do not understand can mislead others as well as being incorrect.
@ardvaark apologies I did misread what you wrote!
Ianto11 is making sensible points and linking to telecommgreen which is an excellent source.
They, on their website, also clarify responsibly what one should/should not do with Openreach's equipment as well as what is possible in practice - but other actions may well breach not just terms and conditions but in the really worst case telecomms regulations. Edit: this last sentance has been updated regarding legality etc.
It might not be considered likely but it is possible not to just make faulty one own 's service but also damage a lot more. Pretty rare possibly but not unknown!0 -

On the old style NTE5 master sockets user extensions were connected to the removable faceplate, the new style that Aardvaak has the user extensions do connect to the front of the backplate (rear of it is still OR territory ) and the removal of the faceplate to access the test socket still isolates the user side from the OR side( hope this makes sense )0 -
Ian, yes that makes perfect sense....
What you are writing reinforces my statement " ....via the faceplate.... ".
Disconnecting it (the faceplate) isolates the user connections on the front face of the backplate -as well as anything plugged in to the faceplate sockets.
Unless @thorganby objects we should not continue with this part of the thread as, apart from clarifying what one can and cannot officially do (so those who do things improperly know the risks) it does nothing further to help with the original question!0 -
You possibly have read it correctly I am only connecting to the part I am allowed to ie I am not removing the screws holding the rear part where the line comes into from outside.
I am able to connect to the front sections.Heedtheadvice wrote: »

In this thread @Aardvaak certainly seems to understand where the restrictions lie..and hasn't crossed them...so a moot point perhaps...0
