I'll contact an Board Guide and see what's happened.
It's sort of been merged with this one which seems senseless as there should have been no comments on that thread just the poll but the bit that hasn't survived the merge is the poll.0 -

I use the first page when they are in a big list!Wins for 2022: Hydratem8 Water bottle, diary, flowers, Good food show tickets, childrens books x3,
Thanks to all who post the comps & please let the comping fairy sprinkle dust on my entries!0 -
The voting thread still hasn't been reactivated or separated back out from this thread, so although all of the comments are in this thread the voting part isn't.
The discussion was started, and from comments I see there are volunteers to run an advent thread. Although I don't have the results of the poll, it's irrespective now that we have volunteers.
So could those lovely people please start their thread, and I'll continue to put any new Advents from the main forum in here for now until such time it is set up.

I was going to offer to input the web comps - reading the replies back I can see only one other volunteer.I am a Senior Ambassador on the Competitions Time Board and the Old Style MoneySaving Board.

This threads gone a bit haywire ... I think there's been a bit of confusion in regards to the whole thing.
It happens every year ... there is a back and forth, nobody wants to do the advents thread or people will volunteer to do the advents and then dissapear for a few weeks so we end up back where we started but in more of a panic. I think the poll and the subsequent posts were more to try and avert having to go through all that again and just get a concencus on how we should proceed. It (the poll) may have been worded a bit weirdly but I think this is more down to forumites making suggestions and the poll becoming more than it really should have been, I don't think, for a second, that there is, or was, any intention of promoting the "hiding" of competition posts.
From what I can see there are no volunteers to do the advent thread and not enough volunteers to split the advents up into categories, so the question "Do we do an advent thread?" is a valid question. It's not / shouldn't be a case of anyone particularly not wanting one, it's more about what do we do in the scenario where we don't have a volunteer / enough volunteers, which appears to be the case at the moment.
The whole A: thing was setup a few years ago and the intention for that was partly to do-away with the advents thread as it wouldn't be necessary anymore, sure it's handy, it's good to have them all in one quick and easy list but it's not practical if nobody / not enough people want to do it / have the time to do it.
I'm pretty outspoken about the casual comper and it has gotten me into trouble on here, but as far as I'm concerned we can't "pander" to casual compers who in turn contribute nothing, especially if it entails giving up your own time (at the busiest and most stressful time of year!).
The ideal scenario would be having an advent thread in any incarnation, I don't think anyone is disputing that, but we can't magically have one if nobody is willing to do it (for whatever reason).0 -

View Poll Results: Front Page Advent Thread or Not? (from this thread, other poll has been lost)
Bother with front page Advents thread? (no volunteers so far) 28 40.58%
Just have Advent thread where they just get added to the end? 41 59.42%
So I think from the poll above and lack of sufficient volunteers we should get this thread moved over to Main Competition Forum and stickied? Then just keep on adding Advents from the Main Competition Forum to the end of this thread?
We're never going to please everyone but hopefully this will satisfy the majority #StaySafeWishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year0 -
Thanks for all your efforts doing this Cornish, you have shown a lot of patience. more than I would have shown
the only problem I can see with carrying this thread over to the other board is that we are already on page three, this could cause some confusion. I'm sure a board guide could get rid of the poll.
But why not just start a new thread and keep this one for discussion.0 -
Advents Thread posted on main Competition Forums, please add any new ones to that thread
