Yes, but there's probablya really good [not] reason why she is like she is, or someone will want to find one, or say that it's your fault for asking her not to flick fags when it's her divine right to smoke them and throw them where she wants...
I wish my death finger worked....I'd have probably worn it out after a week though....

Of course it will all be someone else's fault that she is like she is.

I expect it is entirely someone else's fault that she has got 5 children as well.

It will also be someone else's fault that they don't behave.

If stairs are becoming a problem how about looking for a retirement flat. Second hand retirement flats are often a lot cheaper to buy because of the age restriction. You wouldn't get a single parent with 5 badly behaved children in a block of flats for over 60s.

on his previous thread, the OP suggested that their young adult daughter lives with them so I think retirement complexes may be out....
that is unless she wants to move away from her parents, although in another thread they were looking at ways to raise additional mortgage on a new property with her being a contributor...so I guess the family at present come as a package.

Its a shame that the BTL market has become more complicated for wannabe landlords as that would have been an option for the OP.

The only real options for the OP are:
Wait it out and hope for better neighbours.
Drop the price and hope that attracts a buyer.
Have a word with local house auctioneers at the least they will give an honest and hopefully useful answer as to what the house could fetch.
Become a landlord himself, rent out the house and move.

I feel the OP's pain and wish them luck.
  • I have 6 kids and have rented the private property I am in for 19 years apart from the youngest who is 9 the others have grown up and moved on
Life has changed my children like you neighbours were not the quietest and yes run a mock at times but they always did as they were told as discipline exsisted then
I always have time for my neighbours and will help if and when I can
The house next door has had its fair share of problems was rented out and became a cannibis farm. Police have been called as the landlord changed the locks and stole the tenents property had a nice family who had lovely kids for 8 years and now it is an airbnb as they are only renting for 1 or 2 nights its been an eye opener shouting in the gardens loud music and noise at all hours
The neighbour at the other side has complained on a number of occasion so much so that some of the reviews on the airbnb site state nice property neighbours a !!!!!
Now the owners of this property really dont care they just want the cash as far as there concerned its there property and they can do what they want including throwing rubbish on a spare piece of ground between the property and telling there tenents that they own this piece of land since moving in I have cut the hedge and kept this clean picking up any litter as far as the council and my landlord are concerned it belongs to no one
Its not renters it not owners or landlords its just people we all have different morals and standards good and bad.

I hope you manage to have a quiet life again and put all this behind you

And if you sell your house, OP, and buy another, what would you do if you found out that next door was rented? Or became a rental property after you'd settled in? Your aversion to 'renters' will limit your choices. Someone further up the line suggested a over 60s flat - sounds like your only option.

That is a fair point to bring up. We were very disappointed to find out that the three houses opposite our new build purchase had been bought by an investor and were rental properties.

As it turns out the rents on them are so high they have attracted "good" tenants.

We are in a detached property so neighbour noise isn't such an issue but we do have a family over the road who have feral children running a mock in the street. (Not from the rental properties) They are the only family in this area of the estate, despite the houses being family homes, with young children so the noise and unrulyness has caused some comments already from the neighbours.

We have a sneaking suspicion that the house that has just sold at the bottom of our garden is also a rental property. We are being gradually surrounded by them.

Thankfully some of our immediate neighbours are owner occupiers who have no intention of moving on in a hurry!
