    Morning all

Way to go Embb - can see those worktops gleaming:A .

Lil_me - Love the tree, think we may do ours next weekend the littles like to help but we just end up with decs all around the bottom so may be some rejiggin once they go to bed. Will post a pic though!

Kaz - Sounds to me like you had a busy day, unfortunate its the sort of day where your none stop and have nothing much to show for it at the end. But lets face it if you had tidies all day within a few hours it would have been trashed and needed doing again. Did someone mention groundhog day? My life has been like that since we had the kiddies:rotfl:

Work yesterday and then it was the switching on of the towns lights, which is fab. Then we all trugged home to have hotdogs. Had a bit of a house full in that MIL, FIL, NanIL, SIL and her friend came over plus us 4 but it was really nice:D .

Work today and littles gone off to Nannies for the day so DH can get some serious study in. I have just dosed myself up as feel like I am coming down with something, my ears are aching, got a head ache and my throat feels tender - really dont want any more poorlies.

Had a bit of a horror yesterday if that DH texted me to say he had seen a rat run up the grapevine that is over the pergona in the garden, it took some grapes with it back under the decking:eek: . So girls bedroom will not be aired until its cut back as it could sneak in through their window. So I guess I need to hack it back and get rid of all the grapes that are still on it (but I am scared, visions of it leaping at me:eek: ).

Right I must work on my dec meal plan as have a family birthday tea on 18th and inlaws on boxing day so another 5 to feed.

Raining here, so no intention of leaving the house if I can help it.

Lots of little running about things yesterday morning, and then managed to get OH, DS1 and DS2 to Homebase, and chose and ordered the doors for their wardrobe. 10% off, and hopefully a £10 voucher in January, thank you MSE!

After quick lunch, off to school Christmas Fair for a few hours with DS2 and DD, who actually walked round with me, rather than disappearing off with her friends, I'm very honoured! The male staff were all in blacktie, and looking very smart, and lots of the 6th form girls and the female staff were in evening dresses! The most popular stall seemed to be the cocktail bar - they'd bought plastic cocktail glasses, with all the fruit on sticks, little umbrellas etc, and one of DD's friends had devised recipes in the six house colours, all non-alcoholic - they were queued six deep! I bought some cakes, and loads of smellies, some of which were very expensive originally (and which as a Boots fan, I almost certainly don't need...!;) ) Had a natter with some of the parents I know, and the head, who had won a teddy bear on the tombola - forgot to tell him not to take it with him next time he visits the school they're building in the Sudan...

Must go and put on pudding to steam. I shan't be putting up the tree yet, we usually leave it until a week before Christmas, because I like to have my festive season short and concentrated! I will however be sending a child up into the loft (like sending them up chimneys!) to retrieve the wrapping paper which I know I bought cheap after Christmas last year...at least this year I remembered! I usually just automatically buy more.

Hope that you all have a nice Sunday, and that the November glooms are now over...

Guess what DS2 did AGAIN this morning? That's right, covered the window in !!!!!!! I'm so bloody angry at him! Nipping out to get tight pants for him, or just put him to bed in jeans and a belt. Maybe I will buy some all in one suits with poppers on the back or something.

Started putting the tree up last night and got bored, just wasn't in the mood. will finish it off in a bit and sort out the rest of the living room. 5 bpxes of christmas decs we found in the loft! All carefully wrapped in paper and sealed in bags in case of loft-leaks.

  • I'm having another Kevin the teenager moment. I seriously don't want to sit for hours now doing school work for tomorrow, but that is what i have to do. So i thought i would have a serious look on here at exactly what we have achieved today so i might feel slightly more motivated. And while i am doing that the parecetomol i have just taken may kick in and i may feel better.

Me and DH have been having a good chinwag today about whether it is worth me working or not once the 2nd one arrives, particularly as it is leaving us with no quality time together as we are doing the chores or playing with charlie, then he goes to bed and out comes the school work. Life is feeling a bit pants at the moment. I think i may only be about 30 quid a month better off for working, but i need to double check these figures before i make any drastic decisions as i would basically not go back to the teaching. I just keep coming back to this thought about once a month at least of there has got to be more to life than this, and i wasn't so maudling when on maternity leave. Some questions to be asking myself this month i think.

Ok I'm back - have had to abandon the trip to see Nanny as car playing up.

As soon as I got in it I thought steering felt heavy and phoned OH at work. Managed to get car out of drive into lane and thought it felt a bit better having driven up and reversed down lane again. Went to pick DS up from his dads who was hungry as 'they have no food in!!!! ' so we went to his local shop for munchies. Parking was a nightmare so phoned OH again and asked what he was up to (bearing in mind he's a paramedic so could be anywhere doing anything) arranged to go to ambulance station and wait until he could look at it. Power steering fluid completely empty so quick trip to Wilko to put it in. Luckily the guy (who filled it up for me :D )said to turn the wheel both ways to lubricate and OMG the grinding sound was awful so rang OH again and decided to abandon as not safe to drive over an hour each way. When I got back I could see where the stuff had leaked out in the yard so not good. And I also dont know how I can get DD to the childminders and then get to work tomorrow.

But at least for today I can do some cleaning (Oh deep joy _pale_ )

Cuppa and get on then anyone want one
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!

I sat and broke load of coathangers into their a pile of metal and a pile of plastic and then sent them recycling. There are no charity shops close by and I would forget them when I go into town as I don't go that often.

The pics are all great, makes any efforts of mine look like I haven't bothered. Good job I can tell a difference!!!

Tiamai how old is he? I resorted to pants x 2 with popper vest over then PJ bottoms on over that when mine were little. I managed to get them until they were about 3, Primark did them cheap.

Embb well done, putting me to shame now, I've been in the kitchen, did some, then ended up making stuff and it's almost as bad again, will do a 30 minute wotsit after I have a look round sites while sending emails and see if I can get some order back.

Thanks for all the comments about the tree, DS2 has been a star and keeps picking up dropped bits, inc baubles which the dogs in particular keep knocking off. The only decorations that are not red or gold are clearish but have mini candy canes inside, another £1 shop find, 4 for £1, my thinking is once they are eaten I can put other things inside next year. DSs desperate to open them :rotfl: I'm being mean and have said they aren't being opened until we take the tree down :D

Coathangers, I've parted with loads on freecycle and www.dontdumpthat.com but still have piles of them to get rid of, I did bag some up last night, will offer them once I have more.

Kaz get your DP to check to see if he can see where it's leaking, on the Volvo (very similar engine) we've had it leak from the pipe and the other end of the system near the rack. Keep a bottle of fluid in the car until you find the leak and keep checking it, the last thing you want is to have to replace the pump or something else because it's been empty. You'll probably be able to see or feel where it's been leaking from as it usually leaves a trail. I think we got our replacement pump from euro car parts. Reminded me I need to shop round for prices for a wheel bearing for the Volvo for when it goes back on the road, just SORNed it as it needs a bearing, taxing and 2 new tyres, so waiting until after Xmas.

Just remembered next week my mother is coming to stay on the weekend. Argh I forgot. She doesn't usually do housework much (she prefers to just pile things out of the way) my Dad does most of it, but she's the first to comment. She's staying in DS1s room, well she will be once we can get the bed out past the boxes. Best try and create some order in this CHAOS before she arrives.

Well I was going to take the boys (brave I know) to the Christmas Fair in Durham but it's lashing it down, so I suppose I will have to do housework instead. Probably a good thing, I'd have only ended up buying things I don't really need :o

I've done another £100 of christmas shopping just about done DS2 and DD2 now.. I have loads to get for DS1 and only slightly less for DS3.

I am making a start on the wrapping tonight I think.. OR I may get those cards done.. I have still not found my notepad so I'll have to re-write the card list which took me 5 days last time!!!

Anyway.. the front room which would have taken 10 minutes to do yesterday which hubby didn't do when I went out.. in fact he did sweet FA which pee'd me off somewhat.. will now take about an hour because the children just totally trashed it yesterday.. I am emptying it entirely of junk which should not be in there in preparation for christmas decs next weekend.. should be fun..

Back in about.. 6 weeks!! lol

  • lil_me, is the christmas Fair in Durham only this week or every weekend? I was planning on going for the lights getting switched on but never went, then it's too wet today. Shame as I think we would have enjoyed it.

Just this weekend http://www.durhammarkets.co.uk/market.htm info is on there. To be honest it gets VERY busy, as in absolutely manic, so part of me is thinking best I stayed in. I popped into Durham and went into one shop then came away again yesterday as there was no sign of getting parked my partner just dropped us off then came back, my friend waited 25 minutes in the queue for the carpark at Prince Bishops, gave up, went back and got the park and ride from Carrville instead. 2 farmers markets on however, 13th and 20th I think it said, so I might venture in when one of those are on.
