Crawls in seeking sanctuary .... MM has moaned every bit of today. How can one person hold so much moan? I have my last counselling session tonight - boy do I need it. It's exhausting listening to so much opinion. I wondered if she had maybe saved it up for me while I was on leave - but apparently she moans to everyone else when I'm not there. I say again: how can one, not very tall but quite round, person hold so much moan? It's a mystery to me.

I've put the general waste bin and recycling boxes out for collection tomorrow. Bin contains my much loved ankle books which have finally 'died' :( Worn down at heel didn't stop me wearing them. Wet feet didn't stop me. Broken zip has stopped me. :( I've had some new ones for a while - they are just not the same. Sigh.

Laundry hamper. magazine rack and 2 Christmas presents have arrived. Just the 2 calendars outstanding. A laundry hamper!!! A magazine rack!!! such times :D

    Much love to you all.

    Evening all

Busy day of paid stuff done
    Kitchen cleaned
    Laundry shuffled
Went for a walk, am trying to do this every day to feel better and also hopefully declutter a bit of me!!
Waiting for a bathroom installer to visit now, then will do supper and reset the kitchen
I may declutter a magazine or two, i have a box full of one that I used to subscribe to, I was going to try and sell but cba so I will reread and then get rid I think. It’s going to take a while to get through them, anybody have any ideas what else I could do with them?

Have a good evening all x
  • Oh Round, I sympathise with you massively. MM talks up too much of your headspace. But, if she does it with everyone, can't everyone report it up the line?
When I started teaching, in our last lecture we were told, 'stick with the radiators, not with the drains' she's a drain... it's not fair and it's not right.

Urm... every post is meant to include flying... eek - I've decluttered my tea, my hotel room (work trip) is tidy and hubby has painted the front room at home... is that sufficient to stop me from being blacklisted?

It was my supervisor that told me that the moaning continues whether I'm there or not. I've noticed that I do find it more wearing on my first day back after a break. So hopefully I'll be more immune tomorrow. There are plans being made to move me - but no room at the inn (aka main office) at the moment :o So it won't be forever - touch wood.

I've unpacked my laundry hamper :D I'm now folding the umpteen reams of paper that were packed round it in a box that was far too big. Paper will be recycled. I'm quite relieved that the hamper is not the size of the box - I thought I was going to have to rethink where to put it

    Tea's ready

JJTF - basically I'd work down Pigger's list with the proviso that IF the mattress is uncomfortable that might need allocating a higher priority to. Basically I'm thinking comfort and warmth - yours.

  • Good evening :D

Apart from the paid stuff, I have managed to clean the toilet & basin upstairs and downstairs, made (and eaten) some butternut squash soup (yum!) and put on the DW. DH has put on the WM twice. I have also spent a lot of time on admin - reviewing and updating policies & procedures (yawn!!) in preparation for tomorrows meeting.

I really need to clean up the kitchen, clear the dining table and hoover up before I go to bed, but I don't think I will! I suppose I could get up early...… :rotfl::rotfl:

JoJo I agree with the others - warmth and comfort, and look for pre-owned bargains if need be.

Jojo, I agree that the microwave should be top priority. If your oven isn't working properly, you still need to be able to cook or reheat food thoroughly, and you can heat water for hot drinks or those wheat filled wraps for bedtime if (heaven forbid!) the heating fails. I would also get a pair of decent work shoes and (if it's allowed under your workplace dress code) a cardigan that you can wear over your thinner jumpers - maybe try Cotton Traders for both. Join your local Freecycle group and look out for rugs, worktop, settee, chair, garden tools, etc - but remember that you have to collect anything you acquire via Freecycle, and anything large or heavy would be difficult to transport home without a van. Personally I would not use someone else's mattress or buy secondhand electrical goods with no guarantee. The garden work would be very low priority, but I would send your OH out to do it (telling him what not to touch under pain of death!) and take over all the cooking from him - you deserve to eat proper food at sensible times.

Round, it must be some consolation to you that MM moans at everyone else when you're not there! Use earplugs? Put up a "Woman at work - please do not disturb" sign?

    My achievements today:
    - tidied the kitchen and swept the floor
    - tidied the LR
    - stripped and re-made my bed with the thin summer duvet, as I was sweltering under the winter one: I can always use a blanket as well :)
    - researched long white zips to sew in down the sides of our duvet covers, to make them easier to put onto the duvet, but couldn't find any suitable ones - has anyone got any experience of this?
    - did WMx4
    - did a big F&V shop and enjoyed lots of it for lunch and evening meal
    - took Rosie for her walk
    - mowed the lawn, which also got rid of a lot of fallen leaves ;)
    - read a work-related magazine
    - fell asleep watching The Apprentice but woke up for You're Fired!

Toddler Group tomorrow... DH has recovered well, so I shall be able to go, but I really want my helpers to step up and lead as if i weren't there. I find succession planning very difficult - any tips?
  • Thanks for the advice, everyone.

Well, I had an unexpected bit of flying to do. Madame Fluffyknickers had a bit of a tummy issue and proceeded to scuttle along the hall floor, sit on the windowsill and then announce her issue properly by sitting on my foot until the residue was detectable by smell and sight. _pale_

As a result, I have cleaned and disinfected the floor, scrubbed the windowsill and washed the cat.

She was not amused by the latter. And even less pleased by the subsequent blowdry - her growling and grumbling drowned out the noise of my ancient travel hairdryer, but I pretty much put her in an upside down terry nappy shaped contraption made from a very old towel and this left the soggy area (tail, feathers, feet and lower tummy) exposed whilst the top half was unable to move as Himself wielded the hair dryer. She looks far more peaceable now, having finally emerged from her sulking place, her back end looks all shampoo advert silky, shiny and not stinky, but she's still refusing to acknowledge my existence and has decided to stay on the settee tonight with her back to me, rather than take up her usual place on the bed.

[makes mental note that any new carpeting/rugs need to be dark]

I need to go to sleep, but I'm struggling today, thanks to getting up so late. I'm going to have to set an alarm and force myself up, I think.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

I am soooo with you on this.

    Morning all

I didn't think it was possible to feel as tired as this, and I've had two babies who didn't sleep! Got my harder groups today then DS swimming and parents evenings for both tonight, then back to work to do parents evening at work. Tomorrow 2pm cannot come soon enough.

Absolutely no flying done. Kiddies were later up so will be dropped at BiLs in PJs, uniform and a box of cereal.
    Have fab days all xx
