Well that's been an epic FAIL so far.

Firstly to enter your Date of Birth it would appear that the only way to do it is to scroll back through a CALENDER!! You can't type in the year, or overwrite it if you just pick today. Unless i'm missing something.

Then when I got to the create your APP registration, it asks for a separate password, to be no less than 10 characters, inc both upper and lower case, inc a number and a special character. Every time I try and pick one, meeting their critera, it says "please match the critera"!!!! After 5 attempts to pick something acceptable, I gave up.

I've managed to get back on line and have withdrawn my last money from this account, and if they close it on me, so be it.

    Anyone else have similar issues?

    Not impressed.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

Yes, I recall it being a bit of an ordeal, though I completed the registration on PC before hopping across to the app to log in and activate it. The date picker was a bit of a laugh, obviously set up by a young person to discriminate against the elderly :rotfl:

Can't add a new payee on the "old" online banking now, the email or text to verify it never arrives. And the app crashes on my phone.

Update: The code arrived 15 hours later.

Tried and failed dismally to download "new mobile app" that I neither asked for or wanted.
Have written and asked to close account-but wont hold my breath waiting for a reply.
Pity a good bank and account destroyed by an act of mobile madness

App was fine for me for months, but I'd been having problems in the last two weeks, and on Monday I had problems where the mobile app kept failing to start up. I left it a bit as there was a note about upgrades going on at the start of the week, and I didn't fancy a long wait for a support call.
On Thursday I thought I'd try re-installing the App. It put me at a point where I needed to register. Tried to go through that about 6 times. It failed at various points. So, time to face that long support call wait.
So with the same looped message going on my phone speaker for about 30 minutes, I eventually got through to a really helpful, patient and persistent lady on the phone. She took me through the App registration. Tried a number of times, but it still failed.
She said there was an alternate method, to download the Al Rayan Bank Authorisation App and then use that to register via the desktop app. We tried this. Tried a number of times, but it still failed. So having got to the point where neither of us wanted to give up, and she said she wouldn't be able to sleep that night if she couldn't get me registered, we kept going, waving my phone at coloured squares on my laptop, entering various numbers, watching in fear as countdowns kept ticking away whilst trying to get all the tasks done. She sought help. We tried more things. Re-installing, clearing caches. We wern't going to give up!
Eventually, the registration worked! We whooped for joy :):)
Right I said, feeling confident, but having lost track of time, let's try and get the Mobile App working now. I started to go to install it. STOP, she said, you can't have the Mobile App now you are using the Desktop with the Authorisation App!
Oh boy. I thanked her for sticking through the challege with me. It wasn't her fault they'd made it so difficult.
Al Rayan Bank. Terrible tech but great support people!

I wanted to withdraw £20k from my Al Rayan Saver to my current ok this morning. I started off doing it on my laptop - logging in all worked fine, with confirmation  through the app. I started setting up the payment, and was asked to confirm it through the app. Did as instructed, then the app just went back to the Home screen, and so did the desktop version. No confirmation message, no error message. Balance unchanged. No pending/future payment set up.

I then called Al Rayan. 40 minutes of muzzak before anyone answered. I am set up for telephone banking, so I thought it would be easy to just ask them to put the payment through. Not so. First he told me the daily payment limit for telephone banking is £10k (£20k for online banking but that doesn't work anyway) and then proceeded to quiz me what I want to do with the money. Put is somewhere I get better interest (/profit). OK. He needs to go off and talk to his boss. More muzzak. Comes back eventually and sets up the payment - which won't be made until Monday as payments only go on working days and Saturday isn't a working day even though he is working. I ask him whether I can now create a future-dated payment for the second £10k and he says no, he cannot do that as the daily telephone limit has been reached. OK, so I finish the call, and then try setting up a future-dated payment through the app myself. Error message: Daily payment limit reached. I just hope it will work tomorrow. I absolutely dread the thought of having to ring them again. The only thing they still have going for them is the 1.6% profit rate but how long will that last?

EDIT on Sunday: I still can't create another future-dated payment request as my daily online payment limit is still exceeded. So they appear to be counting Saturday and Sunday as a single day.

When I complained to them a while back after they messed up an application for this account, as well as a small good will payment, they offered me the option to open an account at the original 1.6% rate. I didn't take them up on their offer, not worth it. Nothing I've read since has convinced me I made the wrong decision.

I had no trouble opening the account around six months ago and the profit has been  paid  promptly each month but.......registering the hard token took several phone calls and a lot of frustration!
I did eventually succeed but I haven't tried to log in since.....

I'm just keeping about £5K in my Al Rayan account and using the SOs I set up when I had access to do that to help manage my Regular Saver cycling. Beyond that, I'm not intending to add to it for further 1.6% interest expected profit due to the problems.
Shame. Al Rayan went from having a great and unique offering of a savings product that could have standing orders with a good easy access 1.6% interest expected profit to an epic fail from trying to jump onto the mobile app band wagon :(

A classic case of not being able to leave well enough alone.
