  • I would like to join if it's not too late?

Target of £120 for two adults, starting on 1st Nov.

I thought I was doing well with that target, but am very interested to see how people get down to £40 per person per month!

So far I have spent £67.39 at Aldi/Lidl.

Declaring a £12.87 spend in Aldi, including some alcohol-free Budweiser for Chrimbo.

Also, £11 in a new noodle bar en route to my event last night. Cheap meal deal, but consider my curiosity sated about the place - not eating there again!

It's heartbreaking when you hand over cash and then sit down to eat and think... oh...my...GOD. This place has zero-rated hygiene certificate all over it! :(

£80 added to my running total, which is a bit of a guess! OH & I are headed down to Cornwall this weekend, but the girls are staying home & entertaining some friends. So I've stocked the van up with snacks - many of them home-made - as I don't want to live on pasties all weekend. No objection to proper Cornish tiddy-oggies, but OH, left to himself, would buy & eat the supermarkets' cheapest offerings, preferably with a side of crisps & a Mars bar for pudding.

So my pescatarian girls are making a chicken curry for their brother, his fianc!e and several friends. I've bought what I consider necessary, left them £20 in case of emergencies like running out of Prosecco, and they can buy anything else they think they need!

Plus I've stocked up on fruit, veg & cheese for next week; there's meat in the freezer & flour for bread so we should be OK until next Friday...

    Hi everyone.
Welcome jgiddings, it's a great place for sharing tips and ideas here.
thriftwizard, great idea to make your own snacks for days out. I do the same as much as possible because I'm with you there wishus, SO disappointing to spend hard earned cash on poor food out! Tends to put me off a lot and makes me very selective when I do.

Well, I'm flying through the nsd''s this month, unlike last month. I love this focus cos it keeps me out of the shops. Halfway through the month and over half my budget spent; so possibly not too far off track. We are due to have a shop tomorrow as we've run out of basics, my list is quite small, but Mr van will be with me so who knows:o. Meal plan done for the coming week (I do this on my phone, helps to keep me organised), some extras included as we have friends coming for lunch; but otherwise not too disimilar from last week:D.

    Hi everyone
Still managing to stay within my budget. If theres anything left over at the end of my week (a Wednesday) its going into a holding pot and then at the end of the month I will decide where it will get put.
Still eating much as I can out of the cupboards and freezer, which is working OK, so Im mainly buying fresh fruit and veggies, which is helping the budgets.
Im trying to put together small hampers for dds this Xmas so I will have to start buying a few bits for those as well, it will mainly be 'treat' stuff. ie nice tea, coffee and biscuits and such like. I think I may have a look at my Xmas decs over the weekend, I shouldn't need any this year and I did buy a couple of bits in the sales after Xmas. Well off to bed now, have a good weekend everyone.

Thank you beentheredonethat :) I think i will keep the same target but always note the spend on cat food going forwards as it is definitely costing us more than we thought when we got them. £10.80 spend was on cat food so added to total. I have the ingredients in to make bread so not planning on buying any the rest of this month which will keep the budget down. It really is just cat food that i think is needed - feeding more than our 2 has meant the surplus i had has been used up completely.

    €15.94 spent today (NSD yesterday)

I only needed breakfast cakes for my husband, grapes, carrots and seeded bread but Aldi had such a range of fresh meat at 30% off it was rude not too. So I got -

    4 big chicken breasts
    4 chicken kebabs (flavoured)
4 turkey and pepper kebabs (flavoured)
    4 chicken burgers
4 San Jacobs which are croquettes

Plus grapes, carrots, seeded bread and cakes all for less than €16 which I’m happy with. Apart from bread and I forgot to pick up yogurts I really won’t need anything else at all for a good week or so with the supplies we have in

    €20.41 left
