    Afternoon All

I’ve got two spends to declare for this weekend. Yesterday, we spent £10 at the Farm Shop (1 dozen eggs, large head of broccoli, spinach, onions, carrots and 2kg potatoes).

This morning, we took advantage of the Lidl £10-off-when-you-spend-£40 voucher from Friday’s Metro. It was a bit of a stretch to get to the £40 total - we had to double up on a few items (muscovardo sugar, bratwurst, salmon en croute). In the end, after the voucher was applied, we spent £31.79.

The above brings our total spend for November to £91.04/£120, leaving £28.96 for the remainder of the month in our grocery challenge budget.

The other thing we did, yesterday, was try out a new-to-us butcher’s shop. I’m impressed. The shop was well stocked. The butchers knew many of their customers by name. They didn’t bat an eyelash when I asked for 1kg of minced beef, split into quarter kilo bags. We bought the mince, a large chicken and four, very meaty, lamb shanks, spending £33.30 in the process. I cooked the chicken for dinner last night - it yielded really nice meat.

A question I wonder about, though I feel a bit daft asking it, is how do people keep tea towels clean? My light coloured ones always seems to get stained and I don't know how to shift it.

Franby, I’d recommend soaking your tea towels in a solution of MrT’s own-brand Oxy Power for 3 hours or so before washing. It’s considerably cheaper than the named brand and works much better. That’s what I do with mine. (Several years ago, my DH was involved in a blind consumer test of this product. We were impressed.)

Now spent another £3.11 in asda, so on a total of £22.03 for the month so far. If all goes to plan, should be able to make up for last month's overspend!

Vanlady and PipneyJaneThank you for the suggestions for cleaning tea towels, I'll give them a go and I'll definitely be looking out for dark ones!

Just a few bits today, pizzas, bananas, milk. I've broken one of my vows and set up a T*sco delivery but everything is stuff we'll use this month apart from a deal on cat food. Shouldn't need another one.

Needed to replace my rubber gloves today. The old ones had acquired a hole and as my dishwasher has broken these are essential. Picked up two YS bags of grated cath city for £1 each will I will put in freezer.

I have amazingly received 3 x £8 off a £40 spend vouchers from mr t today. I usually get £7 off £70 or a higher amount even though I don't shop there often. Added to my £10 Liddell voucher I should make a saving over the next couple of weeks.

Total stands at £191.55/£400 so still on track. I will use the Liddell voucher on Wednesday which will put me over for this week but will catch up by the end of the 3rd week.
