There are many people out there with disabilities who can't get off their backsides and turn the timer for which products like this are extremely useful.

I know, right? They've endured centuries of wet clothes because their NFC-capable phones couldn't transmit their tumble-drying requests over several feet rather than...oh wait....

I understand that, but they still need to load or unload the machine...that's not done via an app!

As said above, first world problems!

So we should be taking clothes to the river and using rocks still then?

In this case the machine is a bit crap, but the thought that these products, which utilise technology, are just for the lazy is exceptionally shortsighted.

Which could be done by a carer or partner when then come home from work. Or in the case of someone with MS for example could be unloaded the following day when they don't feel as exhausted as they do today.

I don't see how this would help becuse they still have to program the washing machine on the app and then touch the phone against the control panel on the front. It's unlikely someone would be able to use a phone and reach the control panel but not be able to press the buttons on the front of the machine.

But surely they don't need to monitor or change the programme, if a carer is filling, setting and unloading the machine, just set and forget.

I'd agree with the "products like this" bit, but I maintain that this particular piece of tech is a solution looking for a problem.

I'm in the process of helping a friend who's a wheelchair user kit out their flat. Some of the smart technologies available will be extremely useful for him - remote heating and hot water, security, doorbell, etc. but having an app that tells him when his tumble dryer has completed its cycle is useless.

We have similar dryer uses a app and we have had no end of problems sometimes works with my s7 but my wife note9 it wont. We really didnt need to use app but we had problems with using the control. In end after 3 visits from Hoover we have a new board inside and the control now work fine.

The heat pump dryer is fantastically cheap to run though a hell of lot cheaper than condenser but does take 3 hours to dry on program we use
