Sky HD for £129 installed - only at Comet instore - New and Existing Customers

You need to take up Sky Talk to get this price, so you can't get it unless you've got a BT line.

Shouldn't cost you any more than BT.

  • I'd be interested to know if anyone has got this deal as I've been into my local comet (aintree - liverpool) tonight and they have told me that the offer is not open to existing sky customer (which I am) despite arguing the toss with him he insisted that the offer was for new customers only. Came home and checked comets website and the t&c's state

Sky HD box offer: If a new customer subscribes to any Sky digital package (from £16 -£45 a month) with Sky HD and Sky Talk or an existing customer upgrades to Sky HD and Sky Talk, they will receive a Sky HD box for £99. £99 price applies for first Sky HD box only. One offer per household.

    Now I'm really cheesed off!

    Planning to ring comet tommorrow.
  • Let us know how you get on Gadget Man. If its a success I'm off to Speke to try my luck there.
I also remember the words of my friends, but I would rather have enemies than friends like you :p

:p would like to make it known that ZubeZubes avvy is a DHN, she's not dancing :o

Great deal if you intend/already subscribe to Sky Sports and or Movies.

However if you don’t then this its a complete waste of money as at present HD content on BBC HD and Sky One HD is part time (only three hours a day on BBC, and Sky One HD not much better). There are a few other HD channels but my point is simply not enough content (yet) to warrant the extra £10/month HD subscripting on top of your normal subscription costs unless you have the Sports/Movies package.

Also bear in mind Freesat is coming next year which will also include a number of HD channel – Hopefully Sky get worried and drop the HD subscription.

I've got Sky+, broadband and have already got sky talk, where does that leave me?
  • I am an existing subscriber and they realy didn't want to let me have the offer. When I said we already had Sky they suddenly said the offer had already finished. Then they claimed it was for existing subscribers only. Fortunately I had printed out the T&C's (thanks gadget man) from the website so in they end they said ok and it all went ahead fine.

It turns out if you are getting the offer as an additional box (multiroom) then they waive the £30 installation fee so the cost comes down to just £99. We already have a multiroom (2 x Sky+) so I thought it would not be possible to do this but it went through. Now I need to cancel one of the Sky+ before they install the Sky HD because you can only have a maximum of 2 HD or + boxes attached to one dish.

    Without an HD box.

Not true. It depends upon the type of LNB that you have. A standard Sky LNB for Sky+ installations will allow a maximum of 4 outputs. This equals 2 Sky+ boxes; or 1 Sky+ box and 2 standard digiboxes; or 4 standard digiboxes. If you want to instll the HD box as well as rather than instead of one of your Sky+ boxes you will need an octo LNB. An Octo as the name suggests has 8 outlets rather tahn the standard 4. You will probably need to buy one yourself and then ask the Sky engineer to fit it for you - a drink may be required!!
