Got a letter today saying the claimant will contact me to resolve this informally0
-
What does that mean? Just a letter from their solicitors acknowledging the defence and trying to get you to settle, or what exactly?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The letter from court to say the claimant will contact me. Sorry been away.0
-
What does it say exactly - court letters don't state that, as such.
You have read bargepole's COURT PROCEDURES thread...and know that defence is not your only job to do?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Word for word says
I acknowledge receipt of your defence. A copy is being served on the claimant or the claimant solicitor. The claimant may contact you directly to resolve any dispute. If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, the claimant will inform the court that he wishes to proceed. The court will then inform you of what will happen.
Where he wishes to proceed, the claimant must contact within 28 days after receiving a copy of your defence. After that period has elapsed, the claim will be stayed. The only action the claimant can then take will be to apply to a judge for an order lifting the stay.
What does order lifting the stay mean?0 -
Oh - nothing exciting - that's just a standard acknowledgement of your defence, from the CCBC. The case won't be stayed, so no point us discussing what that means.
You need to read bargepole's COURT PROCEDURES thread (linked in the NEWBIES thread) and be ready for the next stages. No posts asking about your DQ form, please...this is completely covered in the threads you need to read.
See you at WS and evidence stage back here in a couple of months.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
