£40 for the SSD. £80 for labour. I guess it all helps the money to go around.....

Post #54. Have you the prerequisite 8GB or more USB 'thumb' drive?

Is Secure Boot enabled or not? Is it in UEFI Mode currently or not?
I bought the SSD so it was £120 labour lol I could not find one for £40 though must be looking in the wrong place lol. yes im sure I have a USB stick 8GB but will double check.
  • Do I need to pay for the windows 8.1 or for the window 10?
I do remember when I had the SSD done the guy said that windows 10 was not all that. Whether that's just his personal view.

I feel sad that you paid £120 labour. Sorry, I haven't read all the thread - so the SSD has all your documents on. Is that all?
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.

    That is patently ridiculous.
You saw for yourself how easy it was to swap the drives.

The price of the MX500 250 GB varies, but is selling currently for as little as £38.

No cost for either 8.1 nor Windows 10.

How about the answer to the UEFI/CSM query?

Did you put it back to where it was originally or leave it the same as when it turned pink?
  • Hi as stated in post 49 all back to where it was originally.

So back to where it was originally but it works fine with the HDD?

We need to find out why it works with the HDD, but not with the SSD. If the SSD is faulty, you can return it.
If it's fine, we can run a test install of Windows 10 to it, so you can try it out.
If you don't like it, you can re-install 8.1 Update 3 to it.

You can start by creating the Windows 10 installation media with the USB Flash drive.

Hi when I download the Windows 10 installation media it down loads it on to the computer is that correct? As you said download it onto USB Flash drive. Do I just copy it over to the flash drive. Thanks
