It's reasonably simple. Older operating systems are inherently more risky and as time goes on elements of them may not be ok for modern hardware or software. If you work in a sizeable firm with a significant IT department then you can mitigate those risks for longer and it is true that businesses have been known to delay because, for example, their custom software only works with IE6.
Those with less expertise and no IT department to back them are better advised to upgrade. For sure you don't want to do it on day 1 but in the case of XP the end of the world as we know it came some time ago. You don't have to spend a fortune on Windows 10 and frankly if you are paying is Bill Gates worse than anyone else?
Of course if that is your sticking point you can always take the advice of some on here who recommend Linux.0 -
What difference does that make as to my money going to Bill Gates?
Because it's not Bill who gets your money any more, if you buy Microsoft.
But you don't have to buy Microsoft.
Install Linux for online use, and dual boot into XP for all you favourite, already-paid-for programmes.Eco Miser
