    Hi Mrs Arthur Crown,

I did initially do this and they said account was fine however since then I can no longer login at all.

In this day and age I really wish we could communicate online more, live chat etc as long as DPA passed. Phone calls may be minor for others but it’s huge for me, feels like bigger than anything

Also when you have anxiety having Financial Crime on a letter makes it even bloody worse :(
  • Given your issues with anxiety it’s probably a good idea not to try to scam any more companies in future. Use offers, yes, but don’t abuse them by pretending to be different people.

Yes, it, always hard when you are caught out and have to come clean, which is one of the reasons to not do this.

As I’ve seen it written elsewhere, play silly games, win silly prizes.

I sympathise with the phone anxiety as I really struggle with making calls. Oddly I don’t have a problem if someone calls me.

I do think, however that you need to go into a Nationwide branch and speak to someone about your letter as this issue will not go away without a discussion. An algorithm will have flagged your activities up, but only a human can sort it out.

Good luck. You can do it.

I think the words 'Financial Crime' are on the letter to indicate what Nationwide Department the letter is coming from, rather than as an accusation.
  • Sorry, Naanbread, but I think the letter is a fake too.

I assure you I don’t get a kick out of posting fake letters to ask for assistance.

Maybe, but Nationwide do have a Financial Crime Department.

OK, fair enough. So what are you hoping to get out of it that you haven't already?

You have a solution - give them a call. If your anxiety is such that you can't, you'll have to get someone else to help you or go to a branch and discus your options. Perhaps ask the person who recommended you to come on this forum to help you.

Nobody here can really offer you any more than that. If you have committed a crime, be prepared for trouble; if you haven't (and it doesn't look like you have to me) then what's to worry about?

Are there really so many bank transfer credits (that may include name information) and of such a magnitude that you are likely to trigger suspicion? Just how many times do you win and withdraw by bank transfer?

At the worst, you might just have to demonstrate that all the money going into your betting accounts has come from your Nationwide account and that all the winnings are derived from those stakes.

That stands to reason. Some of us might even know people who work there.

Just an update and to finalise the thread. I finally called them Friday and they needed proof of one of my payments unrelated to the betting. This was supplied same day and my accounts were unfrozen today. Panic Over

Thanks everyone who took the time to reply

That was a quick turn around, given that you were still posting on here after midday on Friday. Did you overcome your anxiety, or get someone to help you?

Out of curiosity, was this a large payment you made out of your account? Must've been one you forgot to mention when you said you only used the account for betting.
