Well, online betting is not illegal in the UK (as I understand it), so making card deposits and getting winnings as card credits should not be an issue.
Can't see any way around this, other than to give them a call - or get someone to call them on your behalf in the first instance and see if you can find a way forward using a proxy.0 -
Despite having seen the copy of the letter uploaded I am still highly suspicious of it's authenticity. I think Financial Crime in the top left hand corner has been stamped onto the letter using a rubber stamp. I find the use of the term 'financial crime' to be odd to say the least.0

Why do think it has been stamped on?
I'm more curious about the "Fraud Analyst" having no name.0 -
I can assure you that’s the actual letter I got
Financial crime is printed not stamped. I also found it strange how it says ring the number from your card but then there is a number on the right of it.0 -
Can you not take the letter and photo ID into a branch, explain you have severe anxiety on the phone and see what they can do?Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0

I'm not sure that'd be less stressful.
I'd probably say that phoning them up, going through authentication and then getting a friend or family member to speak on their behalf might be the easiest and least stressful way to deal with it.0 -
Is using a false name to get the same benefit multiple nine not going to be fraud?
If so the I ca see this leading to the betting companies watch their money back if the find out and all bank accounts being closed.0 -
Are you aware that you can send a message to Nationwide from their website (and probably their app (haven’t tried that way myself so you would need to check). You can tell them everything you have told us and hopefully they can clarify the situation.
Response isn’t usually instant, but they are very helpful. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
