Well I eventually sorted it.
Long story still long story.
When I was overseas some 3 to 6 months ago and did a Windows update I found there was a conflict with Comodo which I had been using as my AV for over 10 years and found no problem using.
But because of the conflict I decided to use Windows Defender etc instead. No problem and things were fine on my laptop and desktop.
Then last week returning to UK I had to do a Windows update and also decided to ditch Comodo on this desktop. After the update itself and then uninstalling Comodo using the Comodo uninstall and checking with Wise uninstaller I re started my desktop and found I couldn't access the internet. So I asked on here if I had a problem with my wifi card and how to solve things. Unfortunately you guys couldn't help, no problems.
So yesterday I thought I'd give it a final go before I bought a new desktop.
I found a suggestion by googling, CMD.>Services>wlanautoconfig>dependencies or something like that and under dependencies I saw that Comodo was still 'installed'. There was an option to uninstall so I tried it and my wifi was working fine again. Then I did a restart and for some reason my wifi wasn't working.
Now fed up with steam emitting from ears I decided to re set the computer; I tried this before the solution above but had a pop up saying re set had failed. The reset says no folders lost etc so off I went.
The reset worked this time but I lost Libre Office and all my stuff in it and also Picasa which is great for me. Unable to download Picasa now as no longer supported.
So two questions
1. Is there a similar programme to Picasa which not only puts certain photos into folders but also sorts folders into years and months chronologically.
2. Any way to transfer the documents I want into the new Libre office from the documents folders in File Explorer.
I appreciate all the suggestions you guys made and hope my explanation above is understandable even if not fully what I did because I didn't write it down as I did it.
Anyway cheers. It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -
Google photos replaced Picasa and should do all you want and more especially when the UK gets the face recognition upgrade. I would (but optional) at least manually get your photos into year order before installing"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

If all your documents are in folders in File Explorer then you don't need to move them. In Libre Office just Open File and navigate to the same folders you see in File Explorer.0 -

Thanks.
Like anyone, I've got loads of photos.
I was hoping that there'd be something similar to Picasa which would just pick my photos from the hard drive and sort them for me.It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -
Google photos displays them in chronological order"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

Is that the date the photo was taken or the date I put on the folder .
The folder may contain photos taken on different dates.
I ask because last week someone was trying to show me a particular photo she had on her phone and it took ages to find scrolling up and then scrolling down and none of the photos seemed to be in any folders. It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -
Should be the date the photo was taken but scanned or old photos will differ"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0
