Wireless problem connecting my desktop

Just returned to UK after 3 months away and so updated my Windows.

All seemed to be OK but when using my desktop an hour or so after the update I couldn't connect to the internet.

Any way to check my wifi card??

I've run Belarc but of course no way to post it here, but does this bit help?

    I tried that solution.
Don't know if I did it correctly but it didn't work.

I'm typing on my Laptop which is also using the same wifi modem with no problems.

Thanks, yes I can see quite a few wifi networks, mostly those of my neighbours. Although mine also shows up but doesn't allow wifi to work on my desk top.

I'm jet lagged so woke up a few times last night and each time had an idea.

    1. Run an ethernet cable from my router to my desk top and check I can use internet.
Cons - need a 30 foot ethernet cable.

    2. Buy two Home plugs and see if I can use internet.
Cons - both my router and my desk top are on spurs off the ring main so aren't sure if the Home Plugs would work.

    3. Move my desk top and screen close to my router so I only require a short ethernet cable. Check if internet works.

Cons uncomfortable position as the desk top, screen and me would have to sit on hardwood floor.

    4. Connect my laptop to my screen and use as a temp solution.
Cons - not sure there is a benefit.

I really want to check that my wifi card works in my desktop but don't know how and when I try all I get is no internet connection. Any method of doing this???

How about booting up with a live linux session and see it that could use the wifi. Manjaro is supposed to be one of the best at hardware detection. If that works, you know the problem is somewhere in Windows.

Have you checked Device Manager to confirm there's no problem with the WiFi network adaptor?

It says the wifi network adaptor is working properly.

I've just connected the desk top to the router with an Ethernet cable.
Still can't get an internet connection.

My Laptop works through the same router.

Have I erroneously clicked something on the desk top which is preventing an internet connection either by wifi or ethernet?
