£125 Lloyds Switch Offer 1 October to 12 November 2019

I had a Club Lloyds account few months ago but switched it to Santander to get the amazon vouchers (kept a £1 easy saver account with Lloyds to preserve my internet banking logon details).
Just applied for a new Club Lloyds account - very straightforward - got accepted and got my new sort code and account number straight away.
Application then asked for the switch details (entered the Santander account back to Lloyds) and got date of the 10th.
Paid in £10 to my new Club Lloyds account and it arrived straight away.
All in all about 15 mins.0 -
...or simply upgrade the freshly downgraded Classic accounts, so we can keep the same account numbers. The T&Cs allow an upgrade, too...
Except from the bonus terms:
"You are not eligible for the offer if:
You are switching to any existing Lloyds current account opened prior to the 01/10/19"0 -
I think soulsaver is right - you need to open a brand new account.
So - downgrade your existing account from Club Lloyds to Classic (do this via internet banking) - it is instantaneous - the title of your account changes to 'Classic'.
Perhaps wait a couple of days - no need I think but just to be sure. I think from memory you get a new debit card with 'Classic' on it but I can't remember. You obviously retain same account no / sort code.
After a couple of days apply for a brand new Club Lloyds - and switch in.
That SHOULD work - provided you get accepted for the new CL account of course.0 -
..although maybe upgrading to CL could count as 'opening' - ie although you do upgrade an old account, it is a new CL account and thus 'opened' within the specified period. Who knows?0

I did think that could be a valid interpretation, but would need them to clarify... however I'm persona non grata with Lloyds for multiple openings & immediate switchings out... so don't want to draw attention to me on another switching 'scam'...:)..although maybe upgrading to CL could count as 'opening' - ie although you do upgrade an old account, it is a new CL account and thus 'opened' within the specified period. I've got several Classics, so they may decline an application for a new Club: Can you close Lloyds acs on line?0 -

I'm not sure if that will work as I downgraded my existing account from Club Lloyds to Classic, then reapplied for a Club Lloyds account and during the application process it said I can't open more than 1 account within a 30 day period.
I'm guessing downgrading/upgrading an account is classed as opening a new account.0 -
Just applied for a club lloyds and switched an old dormant natwest account today 1st Oct.
so no DD's needed i just have to pay in £1500 per month to avoid the £3 monthly fee?
and I get a free magazine subscription too, not that any of them are worth reading they are mostly just full of adverts. a couple of years ago when they paid 5% interst I had an account with them and even when I closed it the magazines kept coming for a year after!0 -
Savings accounts: yes, but I doubt you can close current accounts. Easiest to close a current account w/o getting hassled is to switch them away. If you switch your account(s) today, it will all be done in 10-14 days from now, leaving you plenty of time to apply for a CL under the offer.I've got several Classics, so they may decline an application for a new Club: Can you close Lloyds acs on line?0 -
Gah just renewed the Club Monthly saver at the end of last Month. If I'd have waited for today I guess could have taken advantage of this!
Assume there is no work-around for existing Club Lloyds Current Account and Monthly Saver customers without downgrading/closing the existing Current Account (and risk closing the Monthly Saver)0 -
It can't be a simple rule as I just downgraded sole and joint Clubs to Classics to avoid the monthly £1500s & DDs when shifting the 1.2% £5ks out.I'm not sure if that will work as I downgraded my existing account from Club Lloyds to Classic, then reapplied for a Club Lloyds account and during the application process it said I can't open more than 1 account within a 30 day period.

I'll find out soon enough 'cos I'll try opening a new club in the light of the switching bonus... although I may get declined for other reasons being persona non grata with Lloyds.0
