  • Tighteningthebelt, stay away from the red meat! Not really, if you want it, have it. I have to say that every 5 days or so on this diet, I get ravenously hungry and think it is my body realising that it is losing weight. Those days are hard.

Well done on the STS Izadora, especially as you were afraid of what the scales might say. You've been doing better than you thought.

Today ended up being busier than I thought, but I got home and made the onion soup. It is OK, not quite as fabulous as I would like it yet, it needs the coconut milk, I think. I've bunged the pot in the fridge and will fiddle about with it tomorrow. Oh, I used my pressure cooker rather than cooking it for an hour.

No walking today because the rain hasn't stopped.

  • Good evening, people :) I hope you’ve all had a great day.

FrugalLina I’m glad you had such a lovely day with your sister yesterday, and well done on cake-avoidance. I hope your sister will enjoy the AFT bake as much as you did. Thanks for the tip about the onion soup - the recipe looks interesting, I was thinking of trying it when I’ve eaten down some space in the soup drawer in the freezer (it’s still got a lot of fruit in it).

Izadora well done on the STS, in spite of the temptations of the week.

    tighteningthebelt :)

Brambling I hope you’ll have a good time with your sister, with both of you trying to lose weight you’ll be moral support for each other on the cake front. I like your decision to be proactive about going to see things you want to.

In the post today was a birthday card and present from my nephew and his partner. Very nice, and very unexpected - my birthday is in May :rotfl: and there was nothing from them then. I assumed they’d forgotten....

    Today’s Doggy-munch
B: plain porridge (times 2 because I was hungry)
L: baked beans with a slice of rye bread, another slice with marmalade
D: fresh herb (mint & parsley) omelette with salad, cinnamon yogurt

Brambling, I am going to try the soup recipe over the weekend, I have read you can use grape juice instead of the Marsala wine, so I will try that and I shall not use the olive oil to saute the onions, I will soften them in the microwave. I am not sure about adding the coconut milk, so will taste test the soup first and add the coconut milk if I feel the recipe needs it.

How nice that you have a week off and that your sister is visiting. I agree about the diet advice and it will be helpful if you are both on plan too.
I have never thought of softening anything in the microwave. It seems so obvious now you mention it. :o
    Hi
Nosh of the day (as Blue Doggy calls it :) )
    Boiled egg. Strawberries.
I've got some butternut and chick pea curry and rice out of the freezer so that'll do me today and tomorrow. Cabbage. Mange tous.
Stewed plums with spoonful ff yogurt.
Close your eyes all veggies and vegans while I say I'm craving red meat. Very much. I'll see if I can hold off til delivery day!!
If you are craving it, you must need it badly. I wouldnt wait for the delivery just in case you are low in iron, or something.

Morning All (well, it was when I started typing this. Pesky work... :D)

Tighteningthebelt I'm really not cultured at all, one of the last films I saw at the cinema was Fast & Furious Hobbs & Shaw, and I think that excitement at finding a scone in the freezer is entirely appropriate.

Sirens I hope that your husband's blood pressure comes down soon

Honey Yay, you got there in the end, well done on the loss :T
Congratulations for resisting the lemon drizzle as well, it's definitely worth a medal, I wish I could say the same but it's a colleague's birthday so I had some for breakfast

Blue Doggy It's strange that they don't know what causes it but hopefully they're few and far between and you're recovering from the tiredness.

Frugalina It's good that you've got plenty of places to explore, it definitely makes getting out and about easier. Seeing as I live about a 20 minute walk from the seafront I don't really know what my excuse is for not going for long walks :o

Brambling I generally hate going to things on my own but the cinema's one that I'm fine with. I figure that it's not like I'd be talking to anyone while I'm in there anyway so it doesn't make that much difference. It probably helps that I've got one a 5 minute walk away though.

Enjoy your week off and hopefully you and your sister can encourage each other.

I was a bit scared about weighing myself this morning but decided that I'd rather know what the damage was and I'm very glad I did as I managed a STS this week. I know that technically it's not great that I'm still the same weight as at the start of the challenge but, with how I've felt recently, I'm taking not having put any on as a win :D

It is indeed a win. Well done. :)

I was going to make onion soup this evening, with all the talk of it it made me feel like it.
But I cant find my stick blender that has been in the same place for thirty-five years. I cant imagine what I could have done with it.
I can use the magimix, but i lost the will after all the searching.

    Today I had

Duck eggs on toast. Frozen banana.

Wholewheat spaghetti, pesto, and mozzarella. Tangerines.

A STS is good Izadora especially if you were expecting a gain :)

Let us know if you add the coconut milk FrugalLina and it tastes better. it's not unusual for me to tweak recipes as well

Blue Doggy the problem with my sister and me is sometimes we support each other and sometimes sabotage each other, she's great at saying go on one wouldn't hurt so we do  but I'm in charge of cooking so other than a planned family meal for her birthday I plan to be good. Is it possible the parcel got lost in the post although I'm assuming it would have been sent from the post office? I once received a cheque from one sister six months after she posted it she had cancelled it when it didn't arrive, at the same time she posted Easter cards for mum and her MIL it really confused them when they received them in late October :)

Tighteningthebelt now I'm thinking a nice juicy steak :D

It felt like everyone was conspiring against me today, as I tried to clear my desk before finishing for the week, not helped by being dragged into a meeting  I work through lunch and managed to grab 10 mins with a cuppa late afternoon whilst waiting for a report to export. I nearly got out at five until a last minute 'if you have a minute' from the boss  and although it was only 15 minutes the Friday traffic was pants to get out of the road I work on.

B - usual porridge, banana and blueberries
L- last of the lentil and sweet potato soup with crackers
D - steak and kidney from the freezer (unfortunately I had frozen it was dumplings  carrots and swede
S - fibre one brownie, finger of fudge, grapes, pear

I took a packet of chocolate biscuits in to work today, having found and opened last night I only had two but they had to go. Unfortunately I've since remembered they were for when my BIL picks up my sister oops :p

Honey It's really annoying when things go walk about, I usually blame the cat :rotfl:

    Hello x
Im a great believer that cravings are the bodies way of saying Im short of something - I used to be a midwife before ill health retired me and have seen some very strange cravings
I really upped my activity levels yesterday I was super charged sorting and dusting:T
Shopping with darling husband this morning so will resist temptation and stick to healthy food.
    kind Regards x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • Well done izadora :)

Declaring todays food as almost the same as yesterday, except I'm exchanging mangetout for cherry tomatoes due to stock levels.

    Gosh, this weather!!!

  • BlueDoggy, that is so funny about the very late (or early) birthday card, they must have you muddled up with someone else.

    Doggy munch, LOL.

Honeythewitch, softening the onions in the microwave means that I save using oil to fry them, it is my go-to method now.

Useful hint: I also soften butternut squash in the microwave before cutting it - makes it much easier on the hands.

I hope the stick blender turns up!

Brambling, I shall do some experimentation with the soup this evening and shall report back. I just seems to lack a certain je ne sais quoi, so I need to figure it out.

LOL at the biscuit mix up and how wise to take them into the office out of harm's way.

I hope you and your sister have a lovely time. :)

Molly41 how good that you have found all that energy, you really are picking up now. :j

I am decidedly annoyed about the heavy rain - I was meant to cycle over to my niece's house to feed her cat  (she is away this weekend) and have had to ask my son to take me over as I never feel safe on a bike in this sort of weather.

At least it is going to be nice tomorrow, yay! :T

Good evening, folks :) I hope the weather hasn’t been too horrible where you are.

FrugalLina :) What a good tip about softening butternut squash in the microwave, I’ve had to resort to frozen prepared packs as possible arthritis in my thumbs makes it impossible to cut fresh ones. Thank you :) The card was addressed to me, with apologies....

Molly41 I’m really glad you’ve got some more energy. And I’m sure you’re right about cravings indicating a nutritional need.

Brambling your sister sounds rather like mine:D. Anyway, I hope you have a nice time together and enjoy your week off. Re the birthday card, “delayed in the post” was my first thought, too, but the postmark was 24th October this year. Hmmm... But it was a nice surprise and brightened up the day :).

Honeythewitch when things go missing, I always blame the pixies. They usually put things back when they’ve finished with them.

Luckily the day started dry. I met a friend for coffee at a new cafe in the local shopping centre (well, these places need sampling :D) and had two coffees and a scone (no butter, just a little pot of jam). I avoided the chocolate cakes.... Then my quickest ever whiz round the SM as I had only twenty minutes left on my parking . Did it just in time, thanks to the magic of Lists.

    What I ate today
    B: 2 sausages, 2 eggs
    S: plain scone with jam
L: baked beans with one slice of rye bread, two small apples
D: tomato salad, small piece of cod (no sauce) with carrot, courgette, and fennel, cinnamon yogurt.

  • Good morning, everyone :)

No, I didn’t forget about the hour, but Senior Doggy doesn’t know about it, and his timechanger is stuck, so he woke up at his usual time....:D Gosh it’s cold outside!

Anyway, it gave me a chance to do my weigh-in nice and early. And - I’ve lost 2 lbs inspite of Choccie Marzipan Gate. :j Whoo-hoo!

    Menu for today
    B: porridge with raspberries
D: tomato salad, grilled pork chop with cabbage, green beans and another vegetable, blackberries and apple with yogurt
T: fat-free cottage cheese with chopped red pepper on a slice of rye bread with lettuce leaves on the side
S: my friend I met yesterday gave me a couple of pieces of her HM flapjack, so one of those will be eaten today.

Wishing everyone a good Sunday, and all the best for the week ahead :)

  • bluedoggy congratulations... that's fantastic!!!

molly41 you're making terrific progress. Dont overdo it though. :)

molly and honeyI do agree about the cravings, but I'm dieting by rules this time so i cannot go where my body leads me too much. I have ordered the meat, it comes on Tuesdays shop. Meantime I shall fantasize about it :rotfl:

frugalina Queen of Tips... butternut squash. I either buy pre chopped or get Dad to do it when he comes for tea. Its impossible!!

honeythewitch hope your blender comes out of hiding. this happens to me too, but then sometimes I remember I cleared it out. I found a huge stock pan in the attic last time I moved, which I had looked for quite a few times! Nobody else to blame here no man, no pets, no pixies either as far as I know. Just me, looking a twit! :(

brambling have a lovely time with your sister :A:A

izadora nothing wrong with fast and furious!!

sirens hope comicon went well. ;)

Today I declare my food as:
    Veg soup
jambalaya (last of) with cabbage and cherry tomatoes. And a boiled egg.
    Jelly and strawberries

I'm going to make carrot, sweet potato and coriander soup later as I have the time and the veggies are starting to look a little sad. My friend is coming over for lunch Tuesday so we can have it with fresh bread and brie. Followed by fruit.

Such a pleasure to have a lie in this morning and then to see the sunshine! Must get going in a minute!! (I tell myself) :D

Today is weigh day for me too. I'm happy to report a 2.5lb loss. I honestly dont think I could safely and nutritionally eat any less (ok - apart from the scones!!), so I'm happy with that fact too.

Take care all, enjoy the sunshine!
