Not sure if this has been mentioned but The Greatest Store in the World is one of mine and my sisters favourites. Looking around for a copy of it the other day but its not out on dvd and the VHS is hard to get hold of (and not cheap for a video!) Also Mickeys Christmas Carol is a must for me.
    I'm through accepting limits
    'Cuz someone says they're so
    Some things I cannot change
But till I try, I'll never know!

Have a look on Ebay - if you have a multi-region DVD player, you can get hold of a copy from USA/Canada for under £10. :rudolf:
I was going to take over the world but got distracted by something sparkly.......

Can't get flint st nativity at 3.99 from hmv it goes in me basket at 4.99.

Looks like they've increased it by a quid leading up to xmas I guess? It was definately 3.99 last week.
4.99 is still a good price though...the hubby really wanted it last year and paid £12 for it. :xmassmile

Blackadder's Christmas Carol - as Christmassy as Mad Jock McChristmas, winner of this year's most Christmassy person contest.

Glad someone mentioned this, its now tradition in our family to watch it on Christmas Eve when everyone is half cut and peeling potatoes and everyone sings along to 'God bless Mr B at Christmastime'

    Our others would be:

    Die Hard
    Gremlins
    Home Alone
The Snowman ( I still cry everytime and I'm 29!)
    The Poseidon Adventure
    Towering Inferno
    Planes Trains and Automobiles

I've just remembered another one - Blizzard. It's about a little girl who makes friends with a reindeer, Whoopi Goldberg does the reindeer's voice.

Elf's on tele on sunday :T

  • I've actually been watching Christmassy films with the family (hubby, and our 3 year old son) since mid October this year! Well, it's my son's first year of really starting to know what Christmas is about! :D (any excuse!)

We've seen so far : Elf (first time watching, all three of us liked it, will definitely go in the keepers list for next year!)
    National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
The Polar Express (3 year old was amazed at every scene, we liked it too)
The Grinch (Jim Carrey version) (Great fun for all)
    Home Alone
    The Muppets Family Christmas
The Snowman / Father Christmas (3 year old was scared by the Snowman, I think it's the music, not sure! Loves Father Christmas though and has seen it twice since then as well)
Miracle on 34th Street (we went for the newer version thinking that he might not like the black and white, but to be honest he got quite bored anyway - I liked it though)
The Nightmare Before Christmas - watched near Halloween, with Isaac in his skeleton pyjamas, the brave little lad wasn't scared at all!

Coming up between now and Christms (some weekends, some evenings AFTER the boy is in bed!)
Santa Claus The Movie - maybe after putting up the tree & decs tomorrow!
A Muppets Christmas Carol - my favourite, I think, makesme tear up every time. I think Isaac will like it too
Gremlins - Hubby's fave, too scary for littlun's though!
It's A Wonderful Life - maybe Christmas eve!
    A Christmas Story
The Box of Delights - we both loved this as kids and can't wait to see how it really was!
White Christmas - just for the tunes, well, and to get my husband watching more musicals.
Bad Santa - Never seen it, but we're not easily offended and can imagine it'll be just our cup of tea

We decided today that the christmas special we'd most like to see would be a Mighty Boosh Christmas, so we're going to hold out hope for next year!

Die Hard - not a Christmas movie? It's all set during the 'company Christmas do' with Beethoven's Ode to Joy playing - how christmassy can you get?

What was the one about the mother and two little girls living in the Department Store over Christmas? Loved that one!
    The Snowman AND Father Christmas
The one about the neighbours with the outdoor Christmas decorations.
Flint Street Nativity - superb writing, casting - absolutely hilarious!
The Ross Kemp Scrooge - very up-to-date telling of the story.
The Man Who Came to Dinner (ancient Bette Davis movie)
Original version of Christmas Carol (but I adore B&W movies - it's my age!)
I'm very bah-humbug but I can't abide IAWL (too much saccharin for me - I know what that makes me because my family love it!
