Cleaning went well and badly? I spent a large portion of yesterday using a lint roller on the stairs. I used an entire roll! I'm surprised because I've been hoovering (corded pet hair hoover). But I think it's probably because it was from ingrained because woody used to sit on the steps a lot. He loves them, and at the corner it's hard to get to.
I've also hoovered half the living room. Being long term ill, makes it hard to organise myself honestly and I got into bad habits of just giving up and not putting things away. Currently having a break because my hoover is full and I'm waiting for my sister to come over so she can empty it for me. This is just so I can avoid any unnecessary exposure to any dog hair and dust.
I've found myself saying that these cardboard boxes will be useful so I will keep them. Why? I might keep the Knitty critters boxes as they're the right size for the big yarn to live in for now. But the shoe boxes can go.
Overall, I feel positive, it should help me feel better in terms of allergies and in terms of myself. Plus I have a cup of tea and that's always a good thing!3 -
I hear you on the cardboard boxes. Mine are all hidden away in my store room of shame under the building, so I'm not confronted by them on a regular basis, but then I go down there and I'm like 😱😱😱😱😱 I know I have more than I could ever need, so why do I find myself going "Ooh, that's a nice box" whenever I get something delivered 🤦♀️🤷♀️?
That is a LOT of lint-rollering! I think I would have been tempted to use a stiff brush (not that I actually own one - or a lint roller 🤦♀️ It would appear I am terrible at adulting!)Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Why is there joy in a good box? Is a a childhood throwback? Do we subconsciously want to make that pirate ship?
Went with the lint roller because I think it would be less tiring! I'll go over it again with the brush at some point! I have two brushes, one that came in a kit which is very light and small. The other is bigger but harder work. I say I thought it'd be less tiring but I ended up sleeping for a few hours anyway.
Waiting for my mum's roast is literally one of my favourite things. I'm excited.2 -
Everyone (by which I mean something like 40% of staff) have been off sick at some point in the last three weeks. Lucky we (my department) is in an uncharacteristic dry time. Usually at this time of year we are ramping the !!!!!! up. This time last year I was working 6 days and 2 hours over time each day. I am happily only minorly affected by the various yucks this week, slight headache and face ache and very tired. I've been working from home to avoid spreading it further.
I would be paranoid about possibly losing my job but I've recently had a talk with my boss about getting more on my portfolio. Without me asking! It feels super very good. It's nice that I feel like I'm being recognised.
As such, I haven't really spent anything this week, or really been out my flat. Given the weather, I'm fine with it.
Not much going on in my life otherwise. Clearly I'm very boring, but better that than to over do it and let myself get sick.2 -
Fingers crossed the Great Lurgy just avoids you and that your team gets back up to full strength at some point. It has been a miserably rainy week.
Also a cardboard box hoarder. I used to tell myself it was for my next house move, but that excuse has gone. I think maybe I was a cat in a previous life.Start mortgage date: August 2022; Start mortgage amount: £240,999; Original mortgage free date: August 2056

Thank you for your luck, but it was too specific! I didn't get the lurgy, I instead got a vomiting bug. Which led me to throwing up in a bin, in front of a train load of people. Mortifying! Thankfully, the nice platform attendant took pity on me, gave me water, showed me to the loos and gave me a choice of trains to catch (I had to escape my train into a station I've never been to before, some guy with impeccable timing used the train loo I was standing by). I was working from home until Friday when I started vomiting blood. Weirdly I was feeling a lot better on Thursday so I had been a bit more active which probably caused it. I dread to think what work thinks of me. I'm just a rolling disaster I think.
I just wonder how many thought I was drunk...
My friend just told me that she's made her savings target for the year, it's really impressive and I'm so proud of her. We are in the lovely position that we are close enough to tell each other things things but we don't work in similar jobs so there's no envy. I'm just so proud of her. I won't go into details as it's not my business but it's a huge goal and she's winning at life.
I read somewhere about an app to attach to your credit cards to get cash back to go against bills. I need to look into it and see if I'm comfortable with it and then decide.5 -
My kitty is curled up on my coat, she's such a sweet little thing. She comes down to meet me when I come to mum's and then sits just out of reach. Parkours over to get 1.5 strokes and then leaps away. When I used to stay overnight, she would sneak into the covers to snuggle but cannot be sitting on my lap. Basically, I really want a little friend in my flat again but I don't think it's the right time yet. However, I'm very much enjoying the death glare the cat is giving the ghost in the corner.
Feeling better but not 100%. However, did manage to do some cleaning so feel less gross. I'm still pretty gross, but not as gross.
Had my first mini appraisal on the manager side, it was interesting. I want to ensure that my feedback is useful but I get tongue tied. I'm hoping I got my points across, it's helpful that it was a very positive review because he's doing brilliantly.
I have managed to book a fair portion of my NZ trip. Interestingly they don't appear to need deposits in advance even though some of these things we are doing are like £500. When I say some, two. We are doing two expensive things and then more budget friendly activities. I am insisting on going on a ghost walk, I love ghost walks and the opportunity to do one in another country is something I want to grab. I still have three nights accommodation to book and then internal flights and car hire. We've been going it on a white board because mum wasn't getting on with the spreadsheet. Honestly so excited.2 -

There's always time for a kitty cuddle! I just think I need to be more settled before I get one again. I don't know what my future holds right now, I might be moving, it's a big deterrent.
I had an hour long phone call with a junior from my old work and she said she considers me a mentor! It's one of the nicest things someone has said to me.1 -
Hope everyone has had a lovely and wonderful festive period!
Been a busy but good time. My manager told me that she knew I was working late and OFFERED ME RESOURCES. Mind blown. Last year for my old job I was working to around 7.30pm each day from September onwards (not just me), whereas with my new job it was two or three weeks. This is less than expected. Very pleased.
I finally got access to my work pension, in 3 months I think I've contributed £120 ISH but sitting in there is £1k+ I love this company's crazy pension contribution.
I need to have a look at my 2023 goals to see how I got on.
Also, I need to work out if my crochet work is nice enough to gift or if people are just being nice about it. My friend is pregnant and she likes the idea of making her baby a blanket, I might make a toy. It's hard to tell because people like to be nice and not hurt feelings.2
