sorry to hear your manager is being thoughtless - that behaviour is not OK even though it may seem trivial. Sometimes just saying absolutely straight and calm that you find a comment objectionable can work as pushes it back to the person to handle rather than you having to deal with feelings of anger/hurt etc. I'm terrible about handling these kind of situations myself (being very confrontation-averse) though so I know it's easier said than done! Hope work is better next weekChoose kind4

Thanks Hazel, to be honest my manager is always thoughtless! Don't know why it got to me that day. I am also very confrontation-averse as long as I'm not in the mood (not that often).
Your diary is next on my list as well to read, what a coincidence!3 -

Thanks MFD, I've been asking for a lot of the furniture and tools to be honest. If they (the collective family) let me take everything I have asked for then I'm going to need a man with a van... (I miss the eek smilie) I don't have a lot of furniture so it would be very useful, whereas everyone else has established households. Feel a little cheeky but hopeful.
Did my banking earlier this week so reviewed how I did last month. Investments are going fine, especially considering how little I am putting into them at the moment. I will not up my investment back to £200 a month for a while because I need to grow my cash buffer. The good news is that, despite the increased costs of commuting (I have to drive now and the parking alone is £20 more a month than my train ticket), my cash has gotten to £5k! I will be paying my sister back in the next few days and will pay my mum back for my sofa when I hit £5,800 which will be a few months away which I feel pretty brilliant about! Additionally my 0% card is now under £1k! Now I'm back on my full wage I have increase my CC payment to £100 a month again. Just need to curb the excess spending.
Annoyingly, I still can't find someone to do the work on my roof. I think it might just be too small, I spoke to a friend of mine and he has this DIY book which explains things very clearly so I think I will buy it for myself. If my body has a good day which coincides with a good weather day I might give it a go. But while waiting for that to happen, I will continue to look for someone to do it for me.
Work last week was a bit of a nightmare, I have about 60 hours work to do in 37 hour week but good news! I'm on holiday next week. My mum is also on holiday next week so my aim is to distract her from whatever she intended to actually do! Not looking forward to getting back to work as I have a lot that I just couldn't get done.
Whatever happens, it'll all work out in the end.6 -
Day two of my holiday and I've been productive! By that I mean that I did it this morning and called the various people I needed to.
Yesterday I took my mum to this small out of town shopping precinct that I had heard that there are some amazing charity shops. There are! But none of them are open on a monday! Well, one was. However, we went into £land and got an amazing haul, which included the paint brushes I wanted for paint stripper annnnnnd cupboard paint in this pretty sage green colour.
I have also bid on a coffee table that I want to try refurbishing. I would like to give it two different stains so that it gives it a sort of very defined look. A huge £9.60, hope I get it!
The kittens are currently sleeping after helping me with typing emails. Love those little nightmares!3 -
Very exciting day today, firstly I got a cheque from HMRC for nearly £400.
Secondly I had a really successful day with the charity shops. I have found a corner display cabinet which appears to be really good quality with a glass door in the size I want for £45, it is something I want for my bedroom. I want to have my prized items safe from any kitty paws. I also found a a cupboard with drawers which is gorgeous and high quality and easy for me to open for £75. I want it for storage which I am currently lacking downstairs. Delivery for both will be £25 which will be good because I can't get them up the stairs by myself.
Also got myself a game which has good reviews for £2.
Just so excited to be able to put things away instead of in piles!5 -
