    Hi Everyone

Hope someone out there can help me.

I had a house fire and lost a lot of stuff dear to me - including a lot of cross stitch. I had a few designs done and up on the wall and was working on one that was a copy of one I had done a few years earlier.

It was for my 5th wedding anniversery.

It was taken from Cross Stitcher (UK Publication) Magazine. I am sure it was from 1999 as that was the year of my 5th anniversery. It is a wedding sampler type thing. It is white evenware (or was it linen - sure it was 28hpi). It used white, off white and cream threads and some small beads. The edging of the pattern looked like lace - done in cross stitch of course.

Now here is the big ask - does anyone know what issue it was from. All my saved magazines that didn't get destroyed in the fire are in storage and I have not had time to through them to see what is missing. I have seen copies from 1999 on Ebay but don't know what one to buy.

I wanted to do this sampler again as it is 10 years since the original was done and would like to replace it on the wall again and hopefully rekindle my love for cross stitching.

I used to do it all the time but since the fire I have been somewhat reluctant to do it again - guess I am greiving the loss of the ones I had done and lost.

Sorry to go on, hopefully someone can help. I have wrote to cross stitcher magazine and waiting a reply - hopefully they will put an advert in for me.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.

    Kind wishes to all

    sweetcarer ;)

Good to see other people enjoy cross stitch - must get on with my latest project, have been doing it since October, it is not massively big, but somehow have to be in a 'cross stitch mood' to do it - does anyone know what I mean?

I'm getting on nicely with a present for DM - pretty much only another page to go before it's finished, and then I need to choose another project to work on. I've a few designs in mind, but I love the fantasy pictures and want to do something else like that. I'm going to have fun looking at websites trying to find a nice one to do, although DH has said he'd like a big cat or something. We'll see :)

I used to love cross stitching until about ten years ago when an accident with a glass severed the tendon on my right index finger! I lost the use of it for months and physio only managed to get back 65% of the mobility. I just couldnt get on with cross stitching with my left hand - as a very proficient cross stitcher who had completed many complex projects, I was devastated and turned to knitting and crochet on large needles and chunky wool and latterly card making and other crafts which dont need such fine tools.
But! I recently completed some cross stitch projects on 14 count aida (using a small darning needle) and have unearthed the uncompleted project from ten years ago. feeling a bit despondent again as its very fine work on linen. And my eyesight isnt what it used to be! I will persevere though and try finer counts and smaller needles until I can do it!

I started cross stitch again when my Dd got pregnant and have done a lot of small pictures and bits and bobs for Dgs now. The amazing thing was my Dd who is very dyslexic found a X stitch of mine ( she is camping out in my ex craft room till her house comes thru) of a little girl with flowers round and sat stitching most days. She said she would finish it before baby was born, her other half rang her (from army camp) and pushed her to finish it - it was done the day before she went into labour and it is beautiful. Im now working on Beartix potter birth chart for the boy's new room - thanks to Keiss21 who gifted me the charts - I love MSE!
