  • I finally got a Paid Status on both claims. Fingers crossed they pay it before xmas and fingers crossed its for the full amount. I will update as soon as I know. Date of paid status is 18th Dec 19. For all those who have not heard anything or if its in awaiting review status I would seriously recommend calling them and staying on hold till you speak to them. I would recommend just asking for update and asking if there is anything else they need...bank statement...section 7 form etc... good luck all
  • Mine are both marked as paid from today 19th. Still waiting for it to land in the bank so I don't know the amount. Me leaving comments on the on-line checker of both my claims may have prompted this. Will you let you know if I get the full amount as there was a small amount of compensation from TC.

Hi folks, I’m new to the forum and just wanted to share my TC woes and wondered if anyone else had any ideas....

I booked and paid for a TC holiday in one of their high street shops and paid a total of £952 made up of a £900 eVoucher from eu261 delay from a previous TC holiday and £52 by credit card.

Today £52 has been paid into my account from Claim Protect and, after being on hold to them for 20 minutes, I was informed that’s all they’re liable for and I should contact the administrators Alix Partners and declare myself a creditor to claim the £900 back...

I must admit I thought once the ATOL certificate is issued I would be covered for the full cost of the holiday however I paid...

    Does this seem right?

I have also phoned my credit card provider to lodge a section 75 claim for the £900 but have to call back tomorrow between 9 and 5...

Any advice or suggestions would be gratefully received and apologies if I’ve missed this covered elsewhere..

Hi folks, I wanted to share a positive update..

As ATOL only refunded £52.99 of my £952.99 claim as the £900 was an eVoucher for a delay, I applied to my credit card provider under section 75, I even suggested I would accept £700 as that was the cash value the voucher was in lieu of. Well 7 days later the credit card company agreed to credit me with the full £900!

Really surprised and chuffed so well worth a try...

    All the best!

  • well done DW. Confirmation the funds landed in my bank late last night. Hope all goes well for everyone else.
  • Hi folks, I received money back today from a Thomas Cook holiday however I was £751 short on the car hire I paid to Thomas Cook and £432 to Thomas Cook for meals and seats for our flights.

Spoke to an unhelpful chap at the CAA who said I wouldn't be reimbursed the £1182.86 outstanding as they wouldn't be covered. Is this true?

You will only get back what appears on your ATOL Certificate, if you added car hire at a later date and paid for the seats separately you may have to make a claim against your credit card if you paid that way
  • Has anyone had any joy getting their flights refunded if they've booked with GoToGate?? Won't be using that company again, but do want my £250 back! CAA won't process the claim. GoToGate just refer me to CAA.

    Going potty!!!!

GotoGate won't have anything to refund you (third parties pass on refunds that they receive from the airline and the airline is gone so will not be refunding)
have a read on the flight-only section here https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2019/09/thomas-cook-seeking-p200m-extra-funding-/
options will be to try from your credit card or travel insurance if it included airline failure
  • One of my claims landed in my bank today minus the few hundred pounds compensation for a previous complaint with TC. Iam just happy to get some back. I have paid the balance of next years holiday off with credit card and I will pay the credit card off with the compensation. There is no way I will ever make any travel payments with either cash or debit card.

Next two holidays booked with jet2holidays

  • Hi all.

I’ve been searching for a similar situation that I find myself in reference TC and claiming a refund via CAA (passed to CEGA). I apologise if this has been raised previously.

We have been asked to provide bank statements as evidence for 3 deposits paid. We paid via a travel company for a TC package ATOL certified.

2 of our payments came from our bank account which isn’t the problem.

One of our deposits was made by my previous place of employment as part of a bonus. Therefore, the credit card payment is registered to another person at another address ... will this be a problem? I’ve tried to call but cannot get through to anyone.

    Thank you in advance
