I've found 3 scam sites so far ,

This one claims to be a " guide to your Thomas Cook rights" but right at the top is a "contact us" form . But no mention of fees or as a regulated claims management company .

Information is a cut and paste copy from elsewhere

    https://www.claimexperts.co.uk/section-75/thomas-cook-has-gone-bust-heres-your-rights-for-compensation

I've also come across 3, one of which had an apt domain name that could easily fool, but lots of website template text within the site and craftily the "contact us" form requests the exact same details as the "refund" form. One of the hard to find pages has text in an Eastern European language, but still, the average non-web savvy punter could easily come a cropper.

I've also worked out that the online Newspaper article I read instructing people on a step by step basis how to fill in the claims form (posted about this in post #336), is giving incorrect information. They themselves have actually got the information from a form on a scam site. Fortunately they don't link to that site.
  • Is this the main thread for all TC related stuff? Just wondering if anyone has had their Direct Debits refunded yet? Thankfully I only paid £190. But from what I’ve read it should just appear in my bank without the need for me to do anything?

Yep, we do seem to have moved into a conversation about scamming, but it is relevant.

The DD refunds are running till 14 October (next Monday), it is likely being processed in holiday date order or alphabetical order as someone has to be last (it's usually me). Hang in there your refund should be on its way. If you do not get it then contact ATOL on Tuesday to chase.
  • But has anyone actually had their direct debit money back yet? I don’t know anyone that has and I have a new holiday booked that needs paying by the end of December so I’m considering putting a claim in just in case. What do you think?

Some people getting rather impatient, literally demanding on Twitter every single day where they are in the queue. Just wait until the 15th !!!!!!.

Unfortunately when people get their refund they rarely seem to pop an update on the forum or Twitter, so sadly the medium is therefore full of the non payment stories and none of the refunds that happened smoothly.

Please do update us if you get a refund by Monday (or not) as it is useful information to others.

The best course of action at the moment is to be patient, but if it's not refunded by Monday, get straight on the phone on Tuesday.

I will update when I get my direct debit! I'm more annoyed that I can't find my holiday for anywhere near the price I was going to pay. It's £300 dearer on Jet2 for the same. But I guess maybe TC heavily discounted hoping for a boost to their cash flow. I fell in love with the hotel! Even going direct is more expensive!

My ex daughter in law has had her direct debits refunded,i do not know the full story but she told my wife she had received her money back.
  • Hi - I had my direct debit payments refunded yesterday. Received an email from the CAA in the afternoon advising I would get my refund by the end of October and then about 5 mins later the refund hit my bank account! We were due to travel on the Tuesday (the day after they went bust) so am not sure if that helps work out any order they're dealing with the refunds.
