  • Hi Poppy,

I have another tracking number from Parcel Force Global Express, which is EE 696 516 761 GB

However, I can't track the parcel with that tracking number, only the number I have previously sent.

    Please share your other theory
  • Now, I'm getting worried, if you were to go to https://www.royalmail.com/track-your-item

and enter VX446498883GB you will see where the package is at the moment.
  • I'm on hold with Royal Mail as I write this ... I'm confused.

Then as above you are not tracking the correct parcel. Something is muddled here, Parcelforce and RM are not the same entity, the details you gave do not match an International delivery yet you say this was sent to a Californian address . Also you appear to have charged £80 for postage, which is way to much, even with insurance for a U.K. Parcel.

OP! You need to check again and work out exactly what you did , something is wrong with your time line and explanation , as it stands no one can assist you further unless you work out the mismatch in addresses and tracking numbers.

  • Very strange, interested to see the update.
  • OK, before I outline a detailed explanation I want to say I successfully stopped the package from leaving the postoffice and the laptop is back in my possession :j

    Explanation
At the time posted the laptop I was also returning an Amazon item. The laptop was posted using Parcel Force Express, while the Amazon package was shipped using regular Royal Mail.

The Parcel Force Reference number was EE 696 516 761 GB, while the Royal Mail reference number was VX446498883GB

I totally forgot about the Amazon package and was using the Royal Mail tracking reference VX446498883GB instead of Parcel Force EE 696 516 761 GB.

I only realised this when I called RM this morning and they said parcel has already been delivered, to which I said impossible I only sent it Saturday. That's when they said Amazon already have it - you can imagine my shock:eek:

So, I immediately called Parcel Force with the reference number EE 696 516 761 GB and they said the package should still be at the post office because they don't pick up on Saturdays. However, they said I needed to get a police reference number because once the package has been handed over it's considered to be in transit.

So I got a police reference number by reporting the fraud online.

I went to the post office and the package was still there :T

As the post office is local and I know the woman who served me I didn't need the police crime reference. She said I was very lucky and handed it back to me.

    So, that's the full story.

Now, I want to take time to thank all of you in helping me retrieve the laptop. I 100% believe that without your kind contributions to this chat I would never have seen this laptop again.

    I can't thank you enough.

    Thank you

You might want to consider a few extra precautions next time you sell this laptop or another one such as protecting your data that is on the hard drive and protecting yourself from people rummaging through your laptop for parts and sending you broken items back. Like you say, you were very lucky to get a result this time round.
Also be aware , and consider revising the posts you've made here that would enable people now to try to play the scammer, or worse still buy more items off you, through the item numbers you've posted.

Also, I imagine you've lost your parcel force postage cost, and also consider how you are going to stop getting selling fees for this laptop from eBay, I think filing a non-paying bidder may be the best way, because this guy isn't going to pay, for sure.

  • Hi, ballistic

    Thanks for your comments.

I have certainly learned a number of lessons from this ordeal.

I was thinking of being a bit immature and emalling the fraudster and letting him know that eBay are aware of his fraudulent activites, and that he has failed in his attempt to scam me ... and call him a few expletives like, shithead, scumbag...

eBay have closed his account, however I want to take it further by getting in touch with the authorities.
