Oooh, Jacks, I hope you do come! And it's January, so that leaves another ELEVEN months to tighten belts and stay in! I know what you mean about feeling out of place amongst the dinkys but I wouldn't give up my kids for ANY number of parties.
Yep...that's going to be the main thrust of my argument.
Although we had a wedding invitation for February plop onto the mat yesterday, (that's blimmin' early isn't it???) and the Long Haulers are talking about getting together as well - maybe in March....
Maybe 2008 can be The Year Of Staying In...inbetween all the going out?
Instead of No Spend Days we can have Stay In Days - and if Saturdays are "a day off" as they are in Mozzie & PaPs challenge then I'll just go out on Saturdays... :rotfl:
We shall have to see, honeybun!
I have trouble resisting a night out at the best of times (let alone when it's you lot - who I would love to meet  ) but we just really want to get out from under this debt SO-O-O-O-O badly.
I'm totally up for drinking, eating, dancing and talking the hind leg off a donkey if I do make it though.

Social suggestions - Is anyone wanting to bring kids - if so we could try to arrange something child friendly during the day. I wouldn't want anyone to be left out.
Roomates - If I am sharing with two blokes I would quite like to stay at Malmaison if you don't mind..........Its where all the celebrities hang out you know - and if I am to make my fortune selling my three in a bed sex session to the News of the World I don't want to say 'when we got back to the Travelodge!@':rotfl: how tacky would that be.
Can anyone suggest a headline please!!Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Hello, never posted in here before, but just wanted to say that I'm from Birmingham and if you want any tips of cheap(ish) things to do and places to go, I'm willing to help.
Bacchus is nice, but I don't know whether is is really a suitable place for a large group of people making a lot of noise. It's not especially cheap either.
Cheap pubs in town: obviously Wetherspoons, the Shakespeare (very close to train station), the Old Royal (Church Street, by the cathedral). Another good pub if you like real ale is the Wellington, on Bennetts Hill.
If you want to go for a meal, there are literally loads and loads of places. Have a look on www.sugarvine.com for any special offers. Big Wok is cheap
I don't know what you want to all do in the evening, eg club, bars, what is your plan?
The Glee Club (comedy club) is always good.
Hope you all have a good time.0 -
Hi
Can you pop me down as a room mate please (I am a girlie)!!!. Agree no axe wielding murders would be welcome in the girl's room.
(One of the) travel lodge did a family room for about £50 - not sure how many it would sleep.
Gingerste & Snaggles - how are you getting down to Birmingham from Leeds(area)?

Just to clarify, I already live in Brum so won't be needing to be "roomies" with anyone.
I would also plump for the Shakespeare. It's close to New Street Station, so we can set up base camp there as we wait for everyone.0 -
right best say this before we start really planning then you can decide if you will dump me of not :rotfl: i dont 'do' clubs/pubs i have only ever been in two pubs in my life, one on a college trip where were were in the middle of the lake district so the pub was empty and the other is the pub i go to for my cheap meals but the restrant is seperate from the main pub. Now i am willing to 'try' these things out however put me in a loud club with loads of people and someone will have to supply me with drinks out the window :rotfl: that is my worse fear. I dont mind quite pubs where we can stand around chatting/fouling about knowing last years meet but loud clubs is a no no for me. Dont get me wrong if you would like to do that sort of thing you can go ahead i am sure i can amuse myself i am just pre warning you all before i arrive and then make a big who ha and spoil all your plans.0
