Yes, they cost a certain sum per word. A long hearing with lots of dialogue is in the hundreds.
This is a very fair reaction from the Circuit Judge. If the PPC get a transcript it will reveal that their rep conceded the point that they wanted to appeal!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

It generally works out to about £200 per hour of hearing time.
The Order says transcript of the hearing and Judgment, so that will be the total time from start to finish.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.9 -

Does it cost about £80.00 for a transcript?
I wish we could find out what happened at the appeal in March that JB mentioned.
Is that cheap? I wonder who is willing to do the hearing transcript for that money.

Where is the link of the post?
I am sure that I have seen some at that sort of cost however they may not be on the court approved list transcribers.
The link is on Nosy's thread on the 8th February. JB mentions an appeal that has been granted which is due to be heard in March. This appeal involves several cases. Any ruling at a higher court would have some influence. There has been no mention of the outcome of this hearing. The HHJ that allowed this appeal has on a previous occasion turned down an appeal from Excel in relation to a case where Lamilad represented a defendant, Ms Ambler. In that case there were discrepancies in the records that Excel had produced as evidence.

"Agree. We did not proceed to an appeal nor did we even entertain it after the hearing. We cannot appeal every strike out and I made the decision to close the case. That being said, in light of the Judge's (in Bradford) now following the decision of District Judge Jackson, we have now appealed the strike out orders and permission has been given. The matter (not this case) is due to be heard in March."
According to JB's comment there were a number of strike out orders that were appealed but we do not know the outcome of this hearing or even if it took place.
Would there be a transcript for a strike out? If so they would have to obtain one for each case. That would be expensive.

Slightly off topic there is talk of a ban on internal flights. France are considering this where there is an alternative rail service.

If this does happen in the UK then these smaller airports like East Midlands will be affected.
There are lot of challenges for the PPC's at the moment and not many opportunities.
