  • Yeah. The sense of urgency seems to be working you’re right.
I am gonna hold on until the meeting I have at the weekend when we have a chat about the discount / deals they can offer then.

But I just scared of losing out.
    What will be will be

How will you know what is a good deal on the car?

Do your homework before you get there.

I’m looking at buying a new Ford Fiesta ST line 1.0 eco boost.

The car I want , they have in. It’s getting made at the moment and will be ready in up to 6 weeks once order is placed. HOWEVER, they say they only have the one in production at the moment!!
I think there's a bit of Chinese Whispers here.

I suspect you're being offered a choice between a factory order car (6wks) and "the only" one that's in stock already. Perhaps the only one in that particular dealer chain's stock, rather than the country... Probably the only one to your precise preferred spec, rather than the only ST-line EcoBoost, and definitely not the only Fiesta...

Fiestas are assembled en masse in Cologne, so a good chunk of the 6 weeks will be in the logistics of getting it from the factory through the various distribution depots to the dealer, and ready for the road.

Audi do factory to dealer in less than a week, in my case it was two days.

I’ve got a quote from favuour other garages / dealerships and they’re all much higher than what I’ve been offered at this particular garage. But I think I may hold on until the weekend because this particular garage said they can drop their price further - of course only if the car is still here

I think what I’ve been offered is the factory order. Because he’s mentioned the “up to 6 weeks” and explained it would have to get transported over, like you said. But SURELY, there’d be more than one in factory order that’s just your standard ford st line with no add-ons, which is what I want (keeping cost down)

Yeah the price I been offered at the minute is slightly higher than my intended budget. But at this meeting on the weekend, he says he is extremely confident we would make a deal as they’d be dropping the price (this deal will only be here at the weekend)

But it’s just that what it, what if they’ve already sold the car before the weekend.
That’s of course is if what he’s saying is true...

That is a classic sales technique to make you rush into a decision.

If they are prepared to sell at £price X this weekend they will almost certainly be prepared to sell at the same price, or maybe even lower, if you wait a while.

You are not buying a rare and sought after car. If you lose out on this one there will be plenty more along next week.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

    Hi guys,

Is the salesman chatting out of his back side to try rush / persuade the sale or could he be telling the truth??
I find it hard to believe personally, but I don’t work in the car business so I obviously don’t know the ins and outs:

    TIA

If you are having a factory build with certain options then yes it could be the case, eg sunroof, reverse camera, special paint colour etc, if it is a standard build then as the others say there will be others knocking about, My 1st new car I had to wait 12 weeks to collect and the 2nd one 16 weeks, some folk have to wait up to 9 months but these are German cars.

    Yeah I guess you’re right.
At the end of the day, I’m buying one of the most popular hatchbacks, with no addons or extras, and in a 1.0Litre engine. So nothing special.
So you’d have thought there’d be many nicking about. But obviously to someone like me who doesn’t come from a car or sales background, I would t really know If theyre telling the truth about no more in the factory.
