Hi guys,
I’m looking at buying a new Ford Fiesta ST line 1.0 eco boost.
The car I want , they have in. It’s getting made at the moment and will be ready in up to 6 weeks once order is placed. HOWEVER, they say they only have the one in production at the moment!!
Is the salesman chatting out of his back side to try rush / persuade the sale or could he be telling the truth??
I find it hard to believe personally, but I don’t work in the car business so I obviously don’t know the ins and outs:
TIA

Does it matter.
If the price is right and it’s the car you want0 -
Probably a bit of both - but if you're happy with the price and lead time, why risk it?
The dealer may well only have a number of available builds of this car. That is not uncommon. OR he may be nudging you to get you to commit.0 -
The salesman job is to sell.
Ford make cars like sausages, they aren't all factory ordered and yours may already be built and stored in a field somewhere. There are also dozens of nearly new ones for sale via Ford direct, suggesting a plentiful supply.
Call another dealer and ask what the waiting time is on a new one!0 -
The price I’ve been offered at the minute is too high.
I have a meeting with him this weekend to negotiate the price as they said they’re willing to drop the price and are ‘confident’ I will buy it.
BUT that’s obviously dependant on the car if it is still there? - but I dunno whether to believe it too much.0 -

If the price ISNT right, then i'd be looking round. What about brokers? What are they quoting? And whats their lead time?0 -
Yeah the price I been offered at the minute is slightly higher than my intended budget. But at this meeting on the weekend, he says he is extremely confident we would make a deal as they’d be dropping the price (this deal will only be here at the weekend)
But it’s just that what it, what if they’ve already sold the car before the weekend.
That’s of course is if what he’s saying is true...0 -
check the price on Carwow or similar.0

Try another dealers, it's ford there's loads. Play em off each other, it's easy to do. This isn't one of their more sought after motors so there will be discounts. There may or may not be others being built, not sure why the sales man would suggest this(probbably to make a sense of urgency- seems to be working).0

Yeah. The sense of urgency seems to be working you’re right.
I am gonna hold on until the meeting I have at the weekend when we have a chat about the discount / deals they can offer then.
But I just scared of losing out.
What will be will be0
