Quite a lot, I would say.

We may have had a conservative government for the last decade but this area has been firmly stuck with labour councillors who have been more interested in lining their own pockets than creating wealth and opportunities in their constituencies.

These areas have been in decline for more than a decade, it has been for many decades.

Hopefully we now have a bright new future.

Yes that's the problem. It's not the Tory government, it's the Labour councillors. Definitely even more Toryism will solve everything.

The decline in this area started long before the Tories were in government.

So changing the Government will solve nothing, for you.

Well yes it has meant for the first time since the 30s a change in local councillors.

It is a massive change for this area.

To the OP, lot of people vote tory simply as a means of keeping left wing parties out, so when you look at it from that point of view, you realise they would only ever stop voting tory, if an alternative right wing or at least central party such as blair's labour would present itself. That would also only ever be temporary.

The day a new John Smith comes onto the scene will be the day I might go back to Labour. I am all for looking after the dis-advantaged and needy, but I am troubled by the types of people today's Labour class as dis-advantaged. When they start talking about the virtues of hard work and looking after business and using welfare as a safety net rather the a lifestyle, then we can talk.

just considering Jess Philips was laughable, and watching them trying and failing to pick a 1st labour woman PM in order to just be seen as political correct will keep them out of power even longer

Couldn’t agree more. It’s laughable that the LP think that RLB, ET or LN could be PM. What’s even more laughable is that RLB, ET or LN think they have what it takes. Not even sure about Keir tbh....

Going by your posts on here you seem like a comfortable tory voter.
Anyway, you voted for them so the responsibility for whatever they do is part yours. If you didn't approve of what they were offering, then you had other options (including spoiling).

So what would it take for the Tories to lose your vote?
For me they would need to have worse policies than the other parties.
