Right hand land on roundabouts

Am I correct in thinking the right hand lane is always used if you're taking the last exit?

So if you wanted the last exit of a roundabout with 3 exits you'd use the right hand lane for exit 2?

Likewise if you wanted the third exit on a roundabout with 4 exits you wouldn't use the right hand lane?

Look at the Highway Code & look at the road markings, between the two you should be able to work it out.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.
  • When taking an exit to the right or going full circle (unless signs or markings indicate otherwise):
Signal right and approach the exit in the right hand lane
Keep to the right on the roundabout until you need to change lanes to reach your exit
Signal left after you have passed the exit before the one you intend to take

    It's not rocket science

Take this roundabout for example https://i.gyazo.com/65ad9b1df7bfece7957211805256e32b.png

There are two exits "to the right" so would I use the right hand lane for the 3rd and 4th exits or just the 4th exit?

If no road markings/arrows , then right hand lane for third and forth (I hope).

There are 4 exits on that roundabout though, so you'd use the right hand land for both the 3rd and 4th I assume?
  • Anything after straight ahead you use the right lane. Does no one know the highway code these days? If not, how did you possibly pass your test?

You can also use the right lane to go straight ahead if there are no other exits after straight ahead. Which is in fact the correct way.

If the exit at 180deg has 2 lanes off, you can use the right hand lane on approach to and whilst on the RaB.

But if you do, please don’t swap to the left hand lane while exiting. There might be another vehicle there!

It's not that simple. One roundabout near us has 4 exits. From the direction I travel the first is virtually a hairpin back off immediately. 2nd is about 120 degrees round and the next at 180 (straight across for those no good with degrees). The final exit is about 300 degrees. All exits are single lane. The vast majority of drivers use the left lane for the first 3 exits and the right hand for the 4th exit only.

A friend of ours was T-boned by a driver who thought using the right hand lane when wishing to leave at the 2nd exit was a good idea. Police disagreed |:-)

One of these exits is only for seven and a half tonne lorries so you shouldn't use that lane.

250 yards below the lorries is the exit you should take.

It's generally best to be in the middle lane irregardless of where you want to go. Leisure World sounds pretty good.

I would use it if I were driving a 7.5 ton lorry, just saying
