There was a problem living in the mobile home, my son was still with us at the time and he is 6ft 4ins and didn't fit in the bed very well. He ended up sleeping in the lounge part where he could stretch out a bit. Lucky is wasn't for too long.

Many years ago we contemplated buying an old pub that had been used as a coalyard for decades. Your pictures of started to break up the concrete reminded me of what would have been ahead of us if we'd gone through with it. Unfortunately it was a great property but, we decided, in the wrong place.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

Ours was a coal yard before it had the breakdown service on it, we're told!

Personally I'd love to follow the journey - although I need to look into this Instagram thing :rotfl:

that you contribute so much to so many people on here Doozer sometimes without the thanks you deserve, that getting to witness one of your passion projects (something for yourself) progress will be great.

Absolutely agree. I don't frequent this particular board regularly but when I do I always take note of Doozergirls posts. So helpful and knowledgeable... thank you

We've just finished a really similar project for work. Some of those early inside pics could be of the same building!

Best of luck and I look forward to watching yours progress.

I prefer to keep a respectful distance from the neighbours until we accidentally get drunk together. :o
I really did get drunk with a woman who didn't buy our old house, though she and her partner viewed. Instead, they bought an unextended, less modernised house, further up the road.

We were at a mutual friend's barbie and the drink loosened tongues a [STRIKE]bit[/STRIKE] lot.

"So, why did you buy the Smith's old house and not even make an offer on ours?' I asked her.

" 'Cos when the Joneses lost their mortgage and pulled out of yours, we asked them what you were like...... They said you were too tight-a!!!!! to drop more than about £5k, so we made the Smiths a low offer and they went for it."

    :o:o:o

She was wrong. So were the Joneses, who'd strung us along for 3 months after losing their lie-to-buy mortgage in the Northern Rock debacle. By the time of the barbie, the Crash was peaking and we'd sold for £60k less than the price originally agreed. We were off to rent till we found our rural idyll.

We didn't know then that it would be a major doer-upper.....

You've all been really nice to/about me today, thank you. I just got the loveliest PM too :o

I still haven't posted a picture. I nearly got there by uploading some bits to imgur but couldn't find a copy button.

Do I just put the link in thingies?

Going to be an interesting one to follow.

Are you talking to the two that put in the complaints about having a house at the bottom of their gardens?
