I've been meaning to post something for ages as someone actually asked, but I've never really been a thread starter, despite the frightening number of posts I've made.

I find it impossible to post pictures into threads anymore and that's been daunting me, as building a house is quite a visual thing! So, I've just started an instagram account especially for our house. I'm at the grand total of three posts this afternoon, but wondered if anyone fancied following the journey there?

We've run out of money at the moment, the house we live in goes on the market next week; we'll make ourselves intentionally homeless and use our equity to finish the house. For the moment I'll just be recapping the journey so far, but there's a long story to tell anyway.

I will try and pop some updates on here once we get going again. Is there an actually reliable hosting website that would allow me to post photos? Dropbox?

Not sure if I'll get in trouble for posting our instagram tag? Might need to be a PM unless enough of you think I won't get into trouble! :o

Hopefully someone replies!

Personally I'd love to follow the journey - although I need to look into this Instagram thing :rotfl:

But for two reasons. One is that I'd love to be in a position one day to build our own house, so it's always good to learn from others experiences.

And the second is that you contribute so much to so many people on here Doozer sometimes without the thanks you deserve, that getting to witness one of your passion projects (something for yourself) progress will be great.

Intentionally homeless though..... Are you staying with relatives? Hotel bound? Camping in the project?

I posted mine on another forum, where there not as tight as here and pay for decent server space to allow photos.

You could blog it which is what my intentions were on my last build, but a really ill wife, 2 kids to look after, a business to run and midnight finishes on the barn, prioritised that to a zero.

I would definitely be interested as I'm a nosey so and so. I've also lost track of all the helpful advice you've provided so I am genuinely curious to see what Doozer Palace looks like.

I just need to get my daughter to explain Instagram and how it works....

I'll get one of my lodgers to PM you with advice & help on being homeless - She has had experience of it and also knows several of the rough sleepers around here. Keeping clean is a major issue, so if you need somewhere to shower, just ask.
No wine bottles in the bathroom though :p

And yes, inquiring minds would most certainly be interested in following the new build.

imgur.com seems the easiest to use and is free. So many host sites have shut or gone monthly fee.

    Thank you :o

No idea where we'll live. Not relatives, not camping and not in a caravan!

When we moved into this house, it was gutted. My husband removed a section of the back wall while I was out shopping on a Saturday afternoon, with nothing to replace it with, and on another occasion shut the heating and hot water off overnight without warning me. It was mid-November. The whole family moved into the Holiday Inn Express, courtesy of these forums for £30 a night. We were like Alan Partridge.

I'd like to be a little better prepared this time. I said I would never live in a project again before we moved into this house and I'm definitely not doing it again after that episode!

We call our house The Old Scrapyard.

They don't allow spaces in instagram handles.

I feel like a naughty child now, waiting for someone to tell me off.

How many do you have to 'rehome'?

Four of us and two dogs.

My cousin also came to stay last October for two weeks and is still here, but he's on his own as far as I'm concerned!
